  1. 1
A water repellent coating method comprising the steps of:(a) loading to a carrier in the form of endless belt a coating solution containing at least a water repellent, (b) bringing said carrier into contact with an article to be coated to transfer said coating solution on the material, and (c) forming a water repellent film on said article.
  2. 2
The water repellent coating method in accordance with claim 1, which further includes another step (d) of washing said carrier.
  3. 3
The water repellent coating method in accordance with claim 1 or 2, wherein the article has a curved surface and a water repellent film is formed on the curved surface.
  4. 4
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the water repellent is a silane compound containing at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, a fluoroalkyl group and an aryl group.
  5. 5
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the water repellent is a thiol compound containing at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group and an aryl group.
  6. 6
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the water repellent is a triazine thiol compound.
  7. 7
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the carrier is made of rubber, woven fabrics or nonwoven fabrics.
  8. 8
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the carrier and the article are moved at relatively differentiated speeds to cause said carrier to rub on said material thereby transferring the coating solution onto said article when the carrier loaded with the coating solution is brought into contact with the article in the step (b).
  9. 9
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the carrier is brought into contact with the article by pressing said carrier from behind against the article.
  10. 10
The water repellent coating method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the carrier is pressed against the article by means of a cylindrical roll provided behind said carrier.
  11. 11
The water repellent coating method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the carrier is pressed against the article by means of plural independent cylindrical rolls provided behind the carrier.
  12. 12
The water repellent coating method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the carrier is pressed against the article by jeting a gas through jetting nozzles provided behind the carrier.
  13. 13
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein the coating solution is loaded on the carrier by dipping said carrier in the coating solution in the step (a).
  14. 14
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein the coating solution is loaded on the carrier by spraying said coating solution on said carrier in the step (a).
  15. 15
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein the coating solution is loaded on the carrier by dropping the coating solution on the contact area between said carrier and a pair of rolls brought into contact with said carrier in the step (a).
  16. 16
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 15, which includes another step (e) of passing the carrier between a plurality of rolls to control the amount of the coating solution loaded on said carrier after the coating solution is loaded on said carrier in the step (a).
  17. 17
The water repellent coating method in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 16, which includes an additional step of holding article so that the surface to be coated is approximately vertical and driving the carrier in a horizontal direction at a position where the carrier is brought into contact with the article in the step (b).
  18. 18
A coating apparatus which comprises a vessel filled with a coating solution containing at least a water repellent, a carrier in the form of endless belt, a means for loading said coating solution to said carrier, a means for pressing said carrier to contact with said article and a means for supporting said carrier together with said pressing means.
  19. 19
The coating apparatus in accordance with claim 18, wherein the water repellent is a silane compound containing at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, a fluoroalkyl group and an aryl group.
  20. 20
The coating apparatus in accordance with claim 18, wherein the water repellent is a thiol compound containing at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group and an aryl group.
  21. 21
The coating apparatus in accordance with claim 18, wherein the repellent is a triazine thiol compound.
  22. 22
The coating apparatus in accordance with any one of claims 18 to 21, wherein the said pressing means comprises a cylindrical roll provided behind said carrier.
  23. 23
The coating apparatus in accordance with any one of claims 18 to 21, wherein said pressing means comprises plural independent rolls provided behind said carrier.
  24. 24
The coating apparatus in accordance with any one of claims 18 to 21, wherein said pressing means comprises jetting nozzles provided behind said pressing means and a means for activating the gas jetting nozzle to jet gas.
  25. 25
The coating apparatus in accordance with any one of claims 18 to 24, which comprises a means for washing said carrier after said carrier is brought into contact with said article.
  26. 26
