  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 9832253 A2 CLAIMS 1. A communications system comprising a primary station having transmitting and receiving means, means for formatting messages to be transmitted by the transmitting means, and one or more secondary stations, the or each secondary station having receiving means for receiving messages from the primary station and means for transmitting signals as pseudo-random code sequences, said receiving means in the primary station being adapted to receive and to simultaneously decode and detect each of the received pseudo - random code sequences.
  2. 2
A communications systems as claimed in Claim 1 , characterised in that the receiving means in the primary station comprises means for implementing Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) as a sequence of multiplication and data re-location operations together with multiplying the received pseudorandom code sequence with a predefined code sequence.
  3. 3
A communications system as claimed in Claim 2, characterised in that coefficients for the multiplication operations are held in a look-up table.
  4. 4
A primary station for use in a communications system comprising at least said primary station and at least one secondary station having means for transmitting signals as pseudo-random code sequences, the primary station comprising transmitting and receiving means, means for formatting messages to be transmitted by the transmitting means, said receiving means being adapted to receive and to simultaneously decode and detect the or each of a plurality of received pseudo-random code sequences.
  5. 5
A primary station as claimed in Claim 4, characterised in that the receiving means comprises means for implementing Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) as a sequence of multiplication and data re-location operations together with multiplying the received pseudo-random code sequence with a predefined code sequence.
  6. 6
A primary station as claimed in Claim 5, characterised in that coefficients for the multiplication operations are held in a look-up table.
  7. 7
A method of distinguishing between each of a plurality of substantially simultaneously occurring different pseudo-random code sequence signals, comprising simultaneously despreading and detecting the received pseudo-random code sequences.
  8. 8
A method as claimed in Claim 7, characterised in that the simultaneous despreading and detection comprises simultaneously multiplying the received pseudo-random code sequence with a predefined code sequence and applying a Fast Fourier Transform as a sequence of multiplication and data re-location operations.
