Output method and apparatus

Abstract

An output apparatus automatically selects one of a plurality of interfaces and ensures receiving buffers corresponding to the interfaces. Data is taken through each interface into the corresponding receiving buffer and the device is controlled to change sizes of the receiving buffers in accordance with conditions of selection.

    A printer control apparatus comprising:a plurality of receiving means (21a, 21b) for receiving respective data from a plurality of external apparatus (la,lb) and storing the respective received data;selection means (22a) for selecting one of said plurality of receiving means;judging means (22a) for judging whether a predetermined command is included in the data received by said one of said receiving means selected by said selection means;and control means (22a) for controlling said selection means to select said one of said plurality of receiving means when said judging means judges that the predetermined command is included in the data received by said plurality of receiving means.

    A printer control method comprising the steps of:receiving respective data from a plurality of external apparatus (la,lb) by a printer having a plurality of receiving means (21a,21b);storing the respective data received in said receiving step;selecting (Fig 10,(4)) one of the plurality of receiving means;judging (Fig 10, (2)) whether a predetermined command is included in the data received by the receiving means selected in said selecting step;and controlling (Fig 10, (2)) said selecting step to select one of the plurality of receiving means when said judging step judges that the predetermined command is included in the data received by the receiving means.

    An output apparatus comprising:selecting means for automatically selecting one of a plurality of interfaces;ensuring means for ensuring receiving buffers corresponding to said interfaces;taking means for taking the data through each interface into said corresponding receiving buffer;and control means for controlling said ensuring means to change sizes of said receiving buffers in accordance with conditions of selection by said selecting means.

    An output apparatus comprising:selecting means for automatically selecting one of a plurality interfaces;ensuring means for ensuring receiving buffers corresponding to said interfaces;and taking means for taking the data through each interface into said corresponding receiving buffer, monitoring means for monitoring a condition of taking by said taking means;and control means for controlling said selecting means to select a proper interface in accordance with result of the monitoring by said monitoring means.

    An output apparatus comprising:selecting means for automatically selecting one of a plurality of interfaces;ensuring mens for ensuring receiving buffers corresponding to said interfaces;taking means for taking the data through each interface into said corresponding receiving buffer, detecting means for detecting an end of data which are taken in said receiving buffers by said taking means;and control means for controlling said selecting means to select a proper interface in accordance with a result of the detecting by said detecting means.

    An output apparatus comprising:selecting means for automatically selecting one of a plurality of interfaces which include at least one two-way interface;transferring means for transferring a predetermined status data by said two-way interface regardless of selection of said selecting means.

    An output apparatus comprising:selecting means for automatically selecting one of a plurality of interfaces;monitoring means for monitoring a condition of error occurrence of data transferring;and control means for limiting the interface to carry out a process of error recovery in accordance with the condition of error occurring while the selection of interface remains the same.

    An output apparatus comprising:monitoring means for monitoring a condition of data transferring error occurrence;generating means for generating a time-out signal by counting a transferring time from the interface relating to said error in accordance with the result of monitoring by said means;and data skipping means for controlling skipping of data from the interface in accordance with the time-out signal.

    An output method comprising the steps of:selecting step for automatically selecting one of a plurality of interfaces;ensuring receiving buffers corresponding to said interfaces;taking data through each interface into said corresponding receiving buffer;and controlling said ensuring step to change sizes of said receiving buffers in accordance with the condition of selection by said selecting step.

    An output method comprising the steps of:automatically selecting one of a plurality of interfaces;ensuring receiving buffers corresponding to the interfaces;taking data through each interface into the corresponding receiving buffer, detecting an end of each data which are taken in the receiving buffers in said taking step;and controlling to select a proper interface in accordance with a result of said detecting step.

    An output method comprising the steps of:automatically selecting one of a plurality of interfaces which include at least one two-way interface;and transferring a predetermined status data by the two-way interface regardless of selection by said selection step.

    An output method comprising the steps of:automatically selecting one of a plurality of interfaces;monitoring a condition of error occurrence of data transferring;and controlling to limit the interface to carry out a process of error recovery in accordance with the cndition of error occurring while the selection of interface remains the same.

    An output method comprising the steps of:monitoring a condition of data transferring error occurrence;generating a time-out signal by counting a transferring time from the interface relating to the error in accordance with the result of said monitoring step;and skipping data from interface in accordance with said time-out signal.
