Non-fogging article and process for the production thereof

Abstract

The present invention is to provide an anti-fogging article which is excellent in durability, wear resistance, anti-fogging property and anti-fogging substainability property, wherein the same is an anti-fogging article in which a film having a metal oxide fine particles having a grain size from 4 through 300nm and having metal oxides used as its matrix is coated on a substrate and dents and projections having an arithmetical mean roughness (Ra) from 1.5 to 80nm and their mean interval (Sm) from 4 to 300nm are formed on the abovementioned film surface, as necessary, the corresponding film contains a surface-active agent and a phosphate compound, and further as necessary, organosilane or its hydrolyzed substance containing in the molecule at least a functional group which is selected from a group consisting of polyalkylene oxide group, alkyl group, alkenyl group, and aryl group is covered on the corresponding dents and projections, and further as necessary, a surface-active agent layer is secured thereon or on the corresponding dents and projections.

    An anti-fogging article wherein a film having metal oxides as its matrix containing metal oxide fine particles having a grain size from 4 to 300nm is coated on a substrate and dents and projections having an arithmetical mean average (Ra) from 1.5 to 80nm and a mean interval (Sm) of dents and projections from 4 to 300nm are formed on said film surface.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 1 through 3, wherein said metal oxide fine particles include at least chain silica fine particles.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 1 through 5, wherein said film has a thickness from 2 to 300nm.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 1 through 6, wherein a layer of organosilane or its hydrolyzed substance containing in the molecule at least a functional group which is selected from a group consisting of polyalkylene oxide group, alkyl group, alkenyl group, and aryl group is covered on said film, and dents and projections having an arithmetical mean roughness (Ra) from 1.5 to 80nm and a mean interval (Sm) thereof from 4 to 300nm are formed on the surface of the layer of said organosilane or its hydrolyzed substance.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 7 to 9, wherein said functional group is polyalkylene oxide group.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 1 through 11, wherein a layer of surface-active agent is covered on said film, or on said organosilane or its hydrolyzed substance layer.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in claims 12, 13, 14 or 16, wherein said covered surface-active agent is such that the same does not have any amine nitrogen or amide bond in its molecules.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 1 through 17, wherein said film itself has a surface-active agent.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 18 through 20, wherein the content ratio of said surface-active agent in the film is from 0.1 to 15 percents by weight.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 1 through 21, wherein at least a phosphate compound selected from a groups consisting of ester phosphate, phosphoric acid, phosphorus oxide, ester phosphite, and phosphorous acid is contained in said film.

    An anti-fogging article as set forth in any one of claims 1 through 23, wherein the initial contact angle with respect to water drops of 0.4mg is 10 degrees or less.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, being characterized in that a liquid including at least one selected from a group consisting of metallic oxide fine particles having a grain size of 4 through 300nm, hydrolyzable, condensable and polymerizable organometallic compounds, chlorosilyl group contained compounds, and thee hydrolyzed substances are coated onto the surface of a substrate, dried and heated as necessary, to cause a dent and projection film of metal oxide to be formed on the surface of the substrate.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25 to 28, wherein said metal oxide fine particles contain at least chain silica colloids.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25 to 29, wherein said liquid contains said metal oxide fine particles at a ratio from 5 percents or more by weight to 80 percents or less by weight with respect to the total quantity of said metal oxide fine particles, said organometallic compound, chlorosilyl group contained compound, and their hydrolyzed substances.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25 to 30, wherein said metal oxide fine particles are composed of at least a metal oxide selected from a group consisting of silicon oxide, aluminium oxide, zirconium oxide, titanium oxide, and cerium oxide.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25 to 31, wherein said organometallic compound is an organometallic compound selected from a group consisting of organosilicon compound, organoaluminium compound, organozirconium compound, and organotitanium compound.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25, 29 through 31, wherein said chlorosilyl group contained compound is tetrachlorosilane.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25 through 34, wherein a surface-active agent is contained in said liquid.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 35 through 37, wherein a surface-active agent contained in said liquid is at a ratio from 0.1 to 1.8 percents by weight with respect to the solid content of the liquid.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25 through 38, wherein at least a phosphate compound selected from a group consisting of ester phosphate, phosphoric acid, phosphorus oxide, ester phosphite, and phosphorous acid is included.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25 through 40, wherein a solvent of said liquid is an alcohol-based solvent.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in any one of claims 25 through 41, wherein an organosilane or its hydrolyzed substance including, in its molecule, at least a functional group selected from a group consisting of polyalkylene oxide group, alkyl group, alkenyl group, and aryl group is brought into contact with a substrate on which a dent and projection film of said metal oxide is formed, in order to cause the molecules thereof to be combined with or adhered to the surface of said dent and projection film.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in claims 42 or 43, wherein said organosilane is alkoxysilane or chlorosilane.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in claims 42 through 44, wherein said functional group is a polyalkylene oxide group.

    A method for producing anti-fogging articles, as set forth in claims 25 through 45, wherein a surface-active agent is further coated onto said anti-fogging articles.
