Mobile radio terminals and cordless telephones as well as associated charging devices are previously known in the Federal Republic of Germany from C-network, D-network or E-network or as DECT, CT1, CT2 telephones in many variants. These phones today only use a network (mobile / fixed network) or a technical standard (eg GSM 900, DCS 1800, DECT).
Mobile terminals capable of serving multiple networks or technical standards are currently under development and are expected to be on the market shortly under the terms dual mode, dual band, multi mode or multi band phones , Such phones, which are to be used in several networks, are to achieve improved accessibility (eg, in-house and out-of-home) and increased quality in connection with the lowest tariffs for customers.
For operation as a cordless telephone on a landline always a so-called base station is required, which takes over the conversion between radio signals and line signals. Usually - but not necessarily - this base station is also used as a charging station for the battery-powered mobile terminal.
In dual-mode, dual-band, multi-mode or multi-band phones, it proves to be disadvantageous that over so-called single-mode phones (only a wireless standard or a cordless standard) a much increased technical effort in the mobile station or cordless phone realize is. This effort not only requires higher development costs, but can also be reflected for example in increased power consumption (battery problem) or larger terminal volume. Furthermore, it must be assumed that only a portion of this terminal is used for a large proportion of time, but the technology for all operable networks is constantly transported by the user.
In WO 90/14729 (PCT / US90 / 01797) the connection is described via an unspecified audio and data bus of a mobile telephone to a conventional corded telephone, which is not connected to a fixed network. The focus of this pre-publication is in bypassing the pressures necessary for mobile phones<img file="EP0849965A1_D0001.tif" />The document thus describes only a specific part of a combination of handling alignment for the direction from the landline telephone to the mobile network. and cellular network and the associated service of availabilities shown or described.
DE 40 26 180 A1 supplements a known corded telephone which is exclusively connected to a landline to one or more cordless handset (s), so that functions of a PBX can result in a compact unit. The parallel connection of the combination of main and extension line connection to a mobile network is not mentioned.
From DE 43 29 721 A1 an interface between various analog telecommunication terminals, such as telephones, answering machines, fax machines or modems, and any radio devices is already known, so that the field of application of telecommunications terminals from an original use of a landline for use is extended at a radio system. This is achieved by an interface that is represented by a universal coupling device. It is assumed that, firstly, for communication from a subscriber via such a coupling device and the called party has a corresponding coupling device, and second, the connection directly between the radios, without support by a terrestrial or satellite-based mobile network takes place (Walky Talky -Principle). The coupling device is assigned a phone number.
From this document is not apparent that various telecommunications terminals are connected in parallel to a landline and a mobile network, or that a traffic between mobile radio system or landline.
US Pat. No. 5,422,934 relates to a transceiver for automobiles which provide the usual small handheld radios with a larger transmission line. This should improve the transmission and reception qualities for telephoning cars over mobile networks. This document thus relates only to the phone calls in cars via mobile networks.
From DE 43 10 230 A1 a transmitting / receiving amplifier for mobile terminals is already known, which in contrast to US 5,422,934 not only in cars, but in general a power unit upstream of a terminal. The range of functions has also been extended, for example, by a possible frequency conversion or infrared transmission between the functional unit and the power unit (mobile radio terminal). In addition, the mobile device can be used without additional power unit. Neither the power unit nor the functional unit have a landline connection, so that landline and mobile network can not be combined.
WO 94/17639 (PCT / CA 94/00020) describes an interface which is technically intended to allow parallel access to cellular mobile networks and landline networks via a terminal and a phone number. This interface includes a complete transceiver for mobile and landline access. A handset and another interface to a landline are connected to the interface. The interface is mobile and can be operated both in the house and in the car. For this purpose, different power supply connections are provided.
This is a separation of the handset and interface in the case of the sole use as a mobile station and contained in the interface transceiver for mobile access.
Furthermore, in case of relocation of the interface, for example, from the house in a car and thus decoupling from landline access no more call from and to the landline in the house are carried out, if there is no further connection to the fixed network or to the landline interface.
From DE 44 00 832 A1, a portable dual mode terminal is already known, which has the ability to make calls via mobile and landline networks. For the fixed network area, the function as a cordless telephone, that is access via a fixed base station, addressed. Furthermore, it can be seen from this, less handy radios, such as built in a car to use as a relay station (relay operation).
Under the quite new term of the telecommunications adapter (TK adapter) is a functional unit understood, which is connected on the one hand to an existing PBX and on the other hand has a radio connection to a mobile network. The TK adapter allows the direct extension of extension phones to mobile phones and vice versa without going through a landline. The private branch exchange remains connected to a fixed network.
The TK adapter has its own mobile phone number and is from the perspective of the mobile network a subscriber terminal. The forwarding of incoming calls from the mobile network takes place exclusively via wire and signal conversion in the PBX. It is not possible to operate the TK adapter as a standalone mobile terminal mobile. Rather, it remains stationary via signal lines to the PBX and bound via power supply lines to the site. Also, the TK adapter is not independently connected to a landline.
The invention has for its object to make a telephone device so that inexpensive and easy to build the use of mobile and landline connections in closed spaces using only at least one single mode cordless phone and a single mode mobile phone should be possible, the disadvantages of Dual mode devices should be avoided.
The task is accomplished by the in <b>Claim 1</b> reproduced features solved.
In the <b>Claims 2</b> to <b>14</b> Inventive and very advantageous embodiments are described according to the invention.
The telephone device according to the invention consists essentially of a composite of modules telecommunications base station for typical use in enclosed spaces, on the one hand has a receptacle for at least one mobile station and on the other hand a receptacle for at least one mobile cordless phone, further via antenna or Antenna connections for the radio systems to achieve optimum reception and additionally has a wired connection to a fixed network and which consists essentially of a functional unit for mutual signal conversion between mobile and fixed network signals and optionally allows charging of the terminal accumulators. The invention includes signal processing within the dual mode base station necessary for conversion between the various signals of the telecommunications systems. Furthermore, the invention comprises the automatic control of the respective signal path in the different operating modes.
The dual mode base station, the different signals of mobile and fixed networks via radio or Wired connected, this in turn into a radio signal of a typical cordless telephone standard, z. B. GSM, implements. These signals include voice and data signals, necessary signaling signals and specific signals of the connected telecommunications systems such as short message signals (mobile). The dual mode base station thus enables serial or parallel access to different Telekommunikationssyteme with only one portable device.
In addition, the Dual Mode base station enables the difficult reception of mobile radio systems in closed rooms by an appropriate setting and improved by a conversion into the wireless signal of a cordless telephone standard the transmission and reception of mobile systems that can not guarantee a radio coverage of closed rooms in the rule.
The dual mode base station becomes active for mobile radio systems only by plugging in an existing mobile radio terminal (mobile phone), it does not have its own transmitting / receiving part for the mobile radio connection. The possibility of telephoning over a public or private landline remains constant.
For the Dual Mode Base Station, no changes are required regarding applicable technical standards and standards, licensing or regulatory requirements.
For convenience, the dual mode base station is coupled with a charger function.
The dual mode base station thus contains five basic functions:<ul id="ul0001" list-style="none"><li>1. Function of a corresponding base station of a standard cordless phone, which is connected to a landline.</li><li>Second Function of a not yet existing converter of mobile radio signals into cordless telephone signals and vice versa.</li><li>Third Function of an amplifier, a so-called <img file="EP0849965A1_D0002.tif" />Indoor Repeaters "for the mobile sector.</li><li>4th Function as charging cradle for mobile radio terminals and cordless telephone terminals.</li><li>5th Automatic switching between the different signal paths.</li></ul>
The subscriber is also a customer of the PSTN, that is, he has a PSTN / ISDN connection and a PSTN / ISDN number.
He is also a mobile phone customer and has a mobile phone number.
Accept calls
The type of call can be recognized by the ring tone. It can be differentiated:<ul id="ul0002" list-style="dash"><li>GSM / DCS calls Calls from the mobile network to the corresponding mobile number.</li><li>PSTN / ISDN calls Calls from the public telephone network to the corresponding PSTN number. Both PSTN calls and mobile calls can be answered on the cordless telephone. However, it remains possible to pick up the mobile phone calls directly with the mobile terminal by pulling out the mobile station. In this case, calls from the landline to the cordless phone are still possible because the systems are decoupled.</li></ul>
Initiate an external call
With the help of an elimination code (eg <img file="EP0849965A1_D0003.tif" />0 "for PSTN and <img file="EP0849965A1_D0004.tif" />7 "for mobile), the subscriber is given the opportunity to establish a connection from the PP both via the fixed network and via a mobile network.<ul id="ul0003" list-style="dash" compact="compact"><li>Call PSTN caller</li><li>Call a mobile caller</li></ul>
Call waiting
Conversations can be conducted without fear of being unreachable for other calls. If one line is busy, incoming calls are sent through the other line<img file="EP0849965A1_D0005.tif" />Call Waiting "signals.
terminals
For example, in a device according to the invention z. B. a maximum of six DECT cordless telephones are operated by a base station. These have extension numbers and can thus be dialed directly.
A call signaled by the call can be answered by a second cordless telephone.
For outgoing calls, the following applies: If a line is busy, the second cordless telephone can set up a call via another line.
Text messages
The encounter of a text message is displayed acoustically and visually. Reading or editing the message is only possible after removing the mobile phone. This also applies if the participant wants to send a text message.
Further features and advantages will become apparent from the following description of the drawing, in which the invention is illustrated, for example. Show it:<dl id="dl0001"><dt>Fig. 1</dt><dd>a schematic representation of the operation according to the invention;</dd><dt>Fig. 2</dt><dd>a base station in a schematic representation;</dd><dt>Fig. 3</dt><dd>a base station at <img file="EP0849965A1_D0006.tif" />Call Waiting ";</dd><dt>Fig. 4</dt><dd>a system overview;</dd><dt>Fig. 5</dt><dd>the system overview shown in Figure 4 with other names.</dd><dt>Fig. 6</dt><dd>a channel control unit;</dd><dt>Fig. 7</dt><dd>a circuit arrangement in a mobile radio terminal (mobile phone);</dd><dt>Fig. 8</dt><dd>a speech codec switch in more detail.</dd></dl>
Fig. 1 shows, however, without the invention being limited thereto, the application of the most widespread in Europe systems in the fixed network (PSTN), cordless telephone (DECT) and mobile (GSM / DCS), wherein the arrangement of the base station in a schematically arranged house the use in closed rooms should be documented.
From Fig. 2 is a base station to recognize in more detail. Herein, 1 means a DCS / GSM mobile phone for mobile communication, 2 a DCS / GSM charging station with voice interface, and 3 a DECT charging station, while 4 illustrates a DECT antenna. At 5, a DECT portable part, namely a cordless telephone, is shown schematically. The reference numeral 6 shows the power supply, which is to be documented in the present case by a schematically indicated plug. Figure 7 illustrates a DCS GSM outdoor antenna, but not necessarily in all cases. By plugging the DCS / GSM mobile station into the base station, it is enabled to receive cellular signals. These are then converted into DECT signals. About the DECT antenna 4 then the connection to the DECT phone, so the cordless phone, built. Similarly, the PSTN / ISDN signals are converted and radiated via DECT.
Fig. 3 is the so-called <img file="EP0849965A1_D0007.tif" />Call Waiting ", in which calls can be made without fear of being inaccessible to other callers." If a line is busy, incoming calls through the other line are called <img file="EP0849965A1_D0008.tif" />Call Waiting "signals.
Figs. 4 and 5 give a system overview. The illustrated system consists essentially of a cordless DECT, a landline, ISDN module, a device for receiving a mobile station, GSM or DCS system connector and a control logic.
The cordless subassembly consists of a common radio frequency part, that is antenna, input amplifier 8, a transmission module 9 and a reception module 10, a synthesizer 11, oscillator and the like, a usual data signaling multiplexer 12, 13, a speech coder 14 and a signaling microprocessor 15.
The landline connection has been realized for example in the form of an ISDN connection. This module consists of an ISDN connection unit 16, SO device, a D-channel signaling microprocessor 17 and a speech coder 18th
For the inclusion of a mobile terminal, a connection option on the so-called system connector 19 is provided. The system connector 19 generally provides at least the following information:<ul id="ul0004" list-style="dash"><li>Analog input / output Two lines for the transmission of an analog voice signal</li><li>System bus This bus is provided for the entire signaling traffic occurring in mobile communications.</li><li>power supply</li></ul>
The purpose of the control logic is to optimally interconnect the various systems, to monitor the entire system and also to act as a translator in the implementation of both the speech coding data and the signaling data of the wireless, cellular and fixed network components. The control logic consists of a channel control unit -<b>C</b>hannel <b>C</b>ontrol <b>U</b>nit (CCU) - which carries the reference numeral 20 and a switch of the speech coder, so-called <b>S</b>Peech <b>C</b>ODEC <b>S</b>witch (SCS), which has the reference numeral 21.
Tasks of the Switcher of the Speech Coders (SCS)
The cordless module communicates with the overall system via a signaling bus L 22. The user data, voice signals, are read in and out via the lines L 23. The voice data can come either from a fixed network connection L 24 or from a mobile connection L 25 / L 26. The speech coder 21 now has to fulfill the following tasks in this context:<ul id="ul0005" list-style="dash"><li>To multiplex the voice data from lines L 25 / L 26 and L 24 to L 23 and to demultiplex the data from L 23 into L 25 / L 26 and L 24, respectively.</li><li>The data on lines L 25 / L 26, L 24 and L 23 are provided in various formats. The reformatting of this data as well as the adaptation to the different transmission rates, for example by under- or over-sampling as well as by filling up the data frame with<img file="EP0849965A1_D0009.tif" />Tailbits "is another task of the SCS unit 21.</li></ul>
Tasks of the channel control unit
In the case of digital cordless systems as well as in mobile radio or ISDN systems, a call setup is always initiated by a signaling connection. The channel control unit now has the following tasks:<ul id="ul0006" list-style="dash"><li><b>Adaptation of the signaling</b> Due to the signaling one of the different systems for establishing a connection is selected. The channel control unit CCU then ensures a correct mapping of the signaling information elements and thus mediates between the systems at the signaling level.</li><li><b>Call waiting</b> If there is already a connection between the cordless terminal and one of the two systems (GSM or ISDN) and a new connection is signaled to the other line, the channel control unit CCU must forward the new signaling to the cordless system, at the user's request the active call Switch over the help of the speech coder 21 (SCS) and keep the old connection.</li><li><b>query</b> The user is making a call from his cordless terminal and would like to reach another caller. During this consultation, the first person to talk<img file="EP0849965A1_D0010.tif" />"he can not overhear the inquiry." Again, the CCU channel control unit provides the necessary signaling.</li></ul>
The information about the already existing connection is stored in the channel control unit 20 (FIG. 5) DSP2 (CCU; 5). If a new connection is signaled on the respective other line, this signaling in the channel control unit 20 (DSP2) occurs via the signaling bus L 27 or the signaling bus L 22 a. DSP2 now signals to the user through the signaling microprocessor 15 (DSP1) that a new call on the second line has just arrived. At the request of the user, the channel control unit 20 (DSP2) switches the active call and maintains the old connection.
If a second cordless terminal attempts to establish an external call in parallel over the free line during the already established traffic connection, this is in turn signaled to DSP1. DSP2 receives the switch data, checks if the desired line is idle, and then switches the second voice channel on successful return signaling. If the connection channels - two channels of ISDN, one channel GSM / DCS - occupied, any further attempt to herauszutelefonieren from the cordless system, due to the information stored in the DSP2 prevented.
Control of additional services
The short messages known from the field of mobile communications are forwarded exclusively via signaling channels to the receiver. Upon arrival
Interaction of the different components
Call setup control
If the user attempts to set up a call connection from his DECT-portable port, that is to say his cordless terminal, this is switched from the data-signaling multiplexer 12 in the form of a demultiplexer to the signaling micro-processor 15 (FIG. 5) or DSP 1 (Fig. 4) further signaled. In the DSP1 (Fig. 4) or 15 (Fig. 5), the signaling data are evaluated and then the destination address with the complete additional information to the designed as a channel control unit DSP2 (Fig. 4) or 20 (Fig. 5). DSP2 calculates from the received data the address of the output over which a call connection is to be established. Via the respective signaling bus L 22 or L 27 are forwarded to the respective other system, mobile or landline, the correspondingly implemented signaling data. DSP2 at the same time informs the speech coder 21 of the desired traffic connection and thus activates the appropriate speech coder 21. As soon as an acknowledgment from the other system is signaled back, the speech channel is switched through via the data and signaling multiplexer 12, which is used as the speech coder (FIG. 5, reference numeral 14) formed ADPCM coder (Fig. 4) and via the speech coder 21 - the SCS unit - into the desired switching system. a short message is communicated to the channel control unit 20 (DSP2) via the signaling bus L 27. DSP2 reads out via the signaling bus L 27, the content of the message from the mobile station and stores this between. The user is notified of the arrival of the short message via the signaling connection to the cordless terminal.
If the user has an SMS-capable cordless terminal, he can retrieve the content of the text message via the signaling path of DSP2. Furthermore, it is then also possible for him to carry out the administration of the short message buffer in DSP2 via his cordless terminal. In this case, the administrative actions of the cache are used to initiate the appropriate management and updating action in the mobile station via the signaling bus L 27.
If the user does not have an SMS-capable terminal, the reception of an SMS can be indicated by sound and light signals. Polling and management of the SMS takes place in this case directly via the mobile phone, which may need to be pulled out of the dual mode base station.
The features described in the summary, in the patent claims and in the description and apparent from the drawing features, both individually and in any combination for the realization of the invention may be essential.
