Docking station with wireless interface

A docking station (62) for a portable computer (61) includes a wireless transceiver (64) for wireless communication with the portable computer (61). The docking station (62) also includes a plurality of ports (68-72). Each port includes a physical connector (31-36) for connection to, for example, one or more peripheral devices, a network or a monitor. A translation manager (65,66) within the docking station (62) manages translation of information transferred between the wireless transceiver (64) and the plurality of ports (68-72).
