  1. 1
A method of manufacturing an electron-emitting device (2-5;94) having an electroconductive film (4b) including an electron-emitting region (5) and a pair of device electrodes (2,3) disposed opposite to each other and electrically connected to the electroconductive film, comprising a step of:(a) providing a film (4a) composed of an organic metal compound or a complex thereof as a precursor of a material of an electroconductive film so as to link a pair of device electrodes (2,3) disposed opposite to each other on a substrate (1);characterised by a subsequent step of: (b) maintaining said film (4a) composed of the organic metal compound or the complex thereof at not less than the decomposition temperature of the organic metal compound or the complex thereof while a voltage is applied to the film by way of said device electrodes, thereby converting said film (4a) composed of the organic metal compound or the complex thereof into the electroconductive film (4b) including said electron-emitting region (5).
  2. 8
A method of manufacturing an electron source (91-94) comprising a plurality of electron-emitting devices (2-5;94) arranged on a substrate (1;91), each having an electroconductive film (4b) including an electron-emitting region (5) and a pair of device electrodes (2,3) disposed opposite to each other and electrically connected to the electroconductive film, characterised in that the electron-emitting devices (2-5;94) are each prepared by means of a method of manufacturing an electron-emitting device according to any one of claims 1 through 7.
