An optical storage apparatus comprising:a laser diode (100) for emitting a laser beam;a light emission current source circuit (24, 104-110, 122-126, 140-144) for supplying a drive current according to a plurality of powers to said laser diode (100);an automatic power control unit (138) for controlling a light emitting power of said laser diode (100) to a specified target power;a monitor photosensitive device (102) for receiving a part of the laser beam of said laser diode (100) and outputting a photosensitive current (i0);a subtraction current source circuit (112-116, 128-132, 146-150) for subtracting a specified subtraction current (i1, i2, i3) corresponding to a difference between a specified light emitting power and said target power from said photosensitive current and converting into a monitor current (im) and feeding back said monitor current (im) to said automatic power control unit (138) ;a measuring unit (118, 152, 134) for monitoring to read the monitor current (im) derived from said subtraction current source circuit (112-116, 128-132, 146-150) as a power measurement value;and a light emission adjustment processing unit (14, 160-166) for sequentially instructing a light emission by predetermined test powers at two points to said light emission current source circuit (24, 104-110, 122-126, 140-144), light emission driving said laser diode (100), instructing said subtraction current source circuit (112-116, 128-132, 146-150) of specified subtraction currents (i1, i2, i3) corresponding to said test powers at two points, measuring each test power from said measuring unit (118, 152, 134) for monitoring, and obtaining a relation between the instruction values to said light emission current source circuit (24, 104-110, 122-126, 140-144) and said subtraction current source circuit (112-116, 128-132, 146-150) in an arbitrary power by a linear approximation on the basis of results of said measurement.
