Data processor

Abstract

The data processor for executing in a pipeline system instructions controlled by wired logic control includes a plurality of instruction registers (104, 105; 3204 -3207) and arithmetic operation units (110, 112; 3214, 3215, 3217, 3218) of the same number. A plurality of instructions read in the instruction registers in one machine cycle at a time are processed in parallel by the plurality of arithmetic operation units.

6 claims: 4 independent, 2 dependent

  1. 1
Data processor comprising an instruction unit (103) receiving instructions from a memory interface (100), a sequencer (102) for controlling a program counter (101) in order to read instructions from the instruction unit (103), at least two instruction registers (104, 105) for storing first and second instructions being read out from the instruction unit (103), a register file (111) for storing data, at least two arithmetic operation units (110, 112) which read corresponding data from the register file (111) and make arithmetic operations thereof in parallel in accordance with instructions read from the instruction registers (104, 105), the register file (111) having a plurality of registers (1708) for storing data, a first data bus for sending data from each of the arithmetic operation units (110, 112) to the registers (1708), a second data bus for sending data from each the register (1708) to each of the arithmetic operation units (110, 112), and a plurality of bus switches (1700 to 1709) for connecting the first data bus and the second data bus.
  2. 4
Data processor according to claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the bus switches (1700 to 1709) are provided to connect one output (129, 131) of one arithmetic operation unit (110, 112) with at least one input (125 to 128) of the other arithmetic operation unit (110, 112).
  3. 5
Data processor according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the bus switches (1700 to 1709) are controlled to send operation results from one arithmetic operation unit (110, 112) to the other arithmetic operation unit (110, 112).
  4. 6
Data processor according to claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the bus switch (1702) is actuated when a destination register field (D) of a first instruction coincides with a first source register field (S1) of a second instruction.
