Information imput/output device using touch panel

Abstract

An information input/output device comprising a touch panel for displaying key patterns of keyboards with various layouts and forms and a virtual mouse thereon to perform data input and command process when the key patterns and virtual mouse displayed thereon are touched by the user, a signal detector for detecting infrared signals which are generated from the touch panel when the key patterns and virtual mouse displayed on the touch panel are touched by the user, a position detector for detecting x-y coordinates of a position on the touch panel touched by the user in response to the output of the signal detector, a control circuit responsive to the x-y coordinates detected by the position detector, for controlling the display of the key patterns, the virtual mouse and output video information on the touch panel according to a set one of a plurality of modes, and a touch panel driver for driving the touch panel under the control of the control circuit to display the key patterns, virtual mouse and output video information thereon. The plurality of modes include a keyboard display mode, a video display mode and a mouse mode.

  1. 1
An information input/output device comprising:a touch panel for displaying key patterns of keyboards with various layouts and forms and a virtual mouse thereon to perform data input and command process when the key patterns and virtual mouse displayed thereon are touched by the user;signal detection means for detecting infrared signals which are generated from said touch panel when the key patterns and virtual mouse displayed on said touch panel are touched by the user;position detection means for detecting x-y coordinates of a position on said touch panel touched by the user in response to the output of said signal detection means;control means responsive to the x-y coordinates detected by said position detection means, for controlling the display of the key patterns, the virtual mouse and output video information on said touch panel according to a set one of a plurality of modes;and    touch panel drive means for driving said touch panel under the control of said control means to display the key patterns, virtual mouse and output video information thereon.
  2. 2
An information input/output device as set forth in Claim 1, further comprising:a first LCD for displaying the output video information and a cursor thereon;first LCD drive means for driving said first LCD under the control of said control means to display the output video information and cursor thereon;and    mode setting means for setting one of said plurality of modes according to a user's selection, said plurality of modes including a keyboard display mode, a video display mode and a mouse mode.
  3. 3
An information input/output device as set forth in Claim 1, wherein said plurality of modes include a keyboard display mode, a video display mode and a mouse mode, said keyboard display mode being automatically set at the beginning of a booting operation, said video display mode being set by the user touching a video display mode button displayed on a desired position of said touch panel during said keyboard display mode, said mouse mode being set by the user touching a mouse execution button displayed on a desired position of said touch panel at the beginning of the booting operation.
  4. 4
An information input/output device as set forth in Claim 3, wherein said plurality of modes are set by mode setting means.
  5. 5
An information input/output device as set forth in Claim 2, wherein said touch panel includes:a second LCD for displaying the key patterns, virtual mouse and output video information thereon;a first transmitter for generating the infrared signal for the detection of the x-coordinate;a second transmitter for generating the infrared signal for the detection of the y-coordinate;a first receiver for receiving the infrared signal from said first transmitter;and    a second receiver for receiving the infrared signal from said second transmitter.
  6. 6
An information input/output device as set forth in Claim 1, wherein said control means includes:a movement discriminator for discriminating a moved position of the virtual mouse in response to the x-y coordinates detected by said position detection means, generating a control signal as a result of the discrimination and outputting the generated control signal to said touch panel drive means;a button discriminator for discriminating whether buttons of the virtual mouse have been touched by the user, in response to the x-y coordinates detected by said position detection means, and outputting the discriminated result to a microprocessor;an input/output controller for discriminating a key of the touched position in response to the x-y coordinates detected by said position detection means and outputting the resultant key input command to said microprocessor, said input/output controller inputting the output video information from said microprocessor, generating a control signal in response thereto and outputting the generated control signal to said touch panel drive means;and    a memory for storing the key patterns of the keyboards with the various layouts and forms and the corresponding position information therein.
  7. 7
An information input/output device as set forth in Claim 5, wherein said second LCD displays the output video information thereon with said first LCD in the video display mode.
  8. 8
An information input/output device as set forth in Claim 1, wherein said touch panel has an input function based on the touch of the user and an output function for outputting the output video information.
  9. 9
An information input/output device as set forth in Claim 2, wherein said mouse mode is performed when the virtual mouse is displayed on said touch panel and the user picks up the virtual mouse with his hand and moves it on said touch panel or touches buttons of the virtual mouse.
