Method of producing ceramic diaphragm structure having convex diaphragm portion and diaphragm structure produced by the same method.

Abstract

A method of producing a ceramic diaphragm structure (2) including a ceramic substrate (4) having at least one window (6), and a ceramic diaphragm plate (8) which is superposed on the ceramic substrate to close the window or windows. The diaphragm plate includes at least one diaphragm portion (10) which is respectively aligned with the window(s), and each diaphragm portion protruding outwards, in a direction away from the corresponding window, to form a convex shape. According to the method of the present invention, a jig (14, 15, 22, 23) having a flat surface or a concave surface is pressed against a top part of each diaphragm portion (10), during or after formation of the convex shape of the diaphragm portion, so that at least the top part has a flat surface (10a) or a curved surface (10b) having a predetermined radius of curvature, thereby to control an amount of protrusion of the diaphragm portion.

  1. 1
A method of producing a ceramic diaphragm structure (2) including a ceramic substrate (4) having at least one window (6), and a ceramic diaphragm plate (8) which is superposed on said ceramic substrate so as to close said at least one window, said diaphragm plate being fired with said ceramic substrate to form an integral sintered body, said diaphragm plate including at least one diaphragm portion (10) which is respectively aligned with said at least one window, each of said at least one diaphragm portion protruding outwards, in a direction away from a corresponding one of said at least one window, to form a convex shape, said method being characterized in that:a jig (14, 15, 22, 23) having a flat surface or a concave surface is pressed against a top part of each of said at least one diaphragm portion (10), during or after formation of said convex shape of said each diaphragm portion, so that at least said top part has a flat surface (10a) or a curved surface (10b) having a predetermined radius of curvature, thereby to control an amount of protrusion of said each diaphragm portion.
  2. 5
A method according to any one of claims 1-4, comprising the steps of:providing at least one frame (12) having a predetermined thickness on said ceramic diaphragm plate, such that each of said at least one diaphragm portion (10) is located between said at least one frame;and    superposing said jig (14, 15) having a flat surface or a concave surface on said at least one frame, so that the amount of protrusion of said at least one diaphragm portion is controlled to a value determined by said predetermined thickness, due to abutting contact of said flat surface or said concave surface of said jig with said at least one diaphragm portion.
  3. 7
A method according to any one of claims 1-4, further comprising the steps of:providing said jig (22, 23) having a flat surface or a concave surface with a plurality of legs (24);and    superposing said jig provided with said legs on said ceramic diaphragm plate, so that the amount of protrusion of said at least one diaphragm portion is controlled due to abutting contact of said flat surface or said concave surface of said jig with said at least one diaphragm portion through said legs.
  4. 8
A ceramic diaphragm structure including a ceramic substrate (4) having at least one window (6), and a ceramic diaphragm plate (8) which is superposed on said ceramic substrate so as to close said at least one window, said diaphragm plate being fired with said ceramic substrate to form an integral sintered body, said diaphragm plate including at least one diaphragm portion (10) which is respectively aligned with said at least one window, each of said at least one diaphragm portion protruding outwards, in a direction away from a corresponding one of said at least one window, to form a convex shape, characterized in that:said each diaphragm portion has a part including the top of said convex shape, which has a flat surface (10a) or a curved surface (10b) having a predetermined (larger) radius of curvature (than that of said convex shape).
  5. 11
A ceramic diaphragm structure according to any one of claims 8-10, wherein said at least one diaphragm portion has a thickness of not greater than 30µm.
  6. 12
A ceramic diaphragm structure according to any one of claims 8-11, wherein said at least one diaphragm portion consists of a dense body having a relative density (bulk density/theoretical density) of at least 90%.
