Method of controlling release of an active or drug from a silicone rubber matrix

Abstract

The disclosed invention is a method of controlling release of active agents or drugs from a silicone rubber matrix by controlling the degree of crosslinking in said matrix. These matrixes are produced from liquid silicone rubbers comprising (A) a polyorganosiloxane containing at least two alkenyl radicals per molecule; (B) an organohydrogensiloxane containing at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule; and (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst in an amount sufficient to promote curing of said composition.

  1. 1
A method of controlling release of a drug from a silicone rubber matrix wherein the matrix is produced by curing a liquid silicone rubber comprising (A) a polyorganosiloxane containing at least two alkenyl radicals per molecule;(B) an organohydrogensiloxane containing at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule;and (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst in an amount sufficient to promote curing of said composition;wherein said control is provided by the crosslink density of the silicone rubber matrix.
