Communication devices for displaying and transmitting the graphic information with a screen that has a transparent support, via the contact means of the input of the graphic information is carried known (DE 34 09 532 C2). Here a representation and transmission of graphic information or a voice communication is possible either. The transparent overlay is divided into a first partial graphic display and in one of them separate second part of the activatable touch functions. Thus, both graphic representations as well as phone features are possible, but strictly separated from each other. In particular, a mode "Graphing" possible in the change then also present in the second part of the support function representations in function fields for this mode. It must therefore always be switched between an operating mode "telephony" and a mode "Graphing".
Furthermore, so-called Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) are known which have a touch-sensitive LCD screen, which is operated by means of a plastic pin. Due to the specially developed software for fonts and graphic recognition can be via pen input handwritten functions such as address book, schedule book, notebook call. A special function wizard that appears as an icon, only needs to be touched recognizes up to seven keywords to post phone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail numbers, etc., where such numbers are then selected and an optional attachable modem as fax. This means that handwriting input in combination with Icon's all ability to organize an office possible (Apple Newton MessagePad, Funkschau 19/1993 pages 16-17).
The invention has the technical object to realize a telecommunication terminal, which is much more convenient to operate.
This object is achieved by the teaching of claim 1.
The telecommunications terminal according to the invention realized a multimedia terminal, wherein the control of the telecommunications functions is effected by means of a graphical user interface. An optical input, output unit, made possible by enterable graphic elements such as lines, circles, letters and numbers, which will be implemented by a handwriting recognition software, the activation or deactivation of the telecommunications functions. In advantageous manner, a so-called window-oriented user interface is used.
The particular advantage for the user of such telecommunications terminal is that using a simple pin by contact and by entering of graphic elements, so-called gestures, the touch-sensitive input / output unit, the entire user interface is performed, since all of the functions and their current statuses optical, eg in plain text or through symbols can be displayed.
Further advantageous embodiments of the subject invention are disclosed in the dependent claims.
An embodiment is explained below using the drawings.
Show it:<dl id="dl0001"><dt>Figures 1a - 1h</dt><dd>An input / output unit of the telecommunications terminal according to the invention showing a connection setup, outgoing</dd><dt>Figures 2a - 2d</dt><dd>an input / output unit with representation of a connection setup, incoming and</dd><dt>Figures 3a - 3h</dt><dd>an input / output unit showing a connection setup a conference call</dd></dl> An inventive telecommunication terminal includes a large touch-sensitive input / output unit 1, being discussed in the figures only on the presentation of a user interface on the input / output unit. 1 The input / output unit 1 can for example be the product of "Newton MessagePad" of Apple Computer, and are integrated as a touch-sensitive display in the telecommunication terminal as a user interface (see. Funkschau 19/1993, S. 16-17, Apple Newton Massa MessagePad). According to the invention for the detection of fonts and graphics to use existing software to recognize on the input / output unit 1, controlled by a controller of the telecommunications terminal, predetermined graphic elements, so-called Gestures and presentable for activation or deactivation of on the input / output unit 1 telecommunications functions 2 use.
The otherwise necessary hardware / software parts of a telecommunication terminal for controlling the plurality of telecommunication features such as connection setup / removal, conference call, etc., unless they are the subject of the present invention, for example, are made of "Multimedia Communications Using the Alcatel 2824 ISDN Telephone", by F . Bergler and E. Foth, Electrical Communication 4th quarter, to take S. 394-401 1993rd An ISDN telephone there described Alcatel 2824, Alcatel SEL AG, Stuttgart serves as a base for the telecommunication terminal according to the invention. Here, then, instead of the display shown in the above article in the Figure 1, p 396, the Apple Newton MessagePad Massa integrate. The operation of the telecommunications terminal according to the invention will now be described with reference to several scenarios.
First, starting from an idle state of the terminal, and then according to the invention, a connection, outgoing described. This is based on the following assumption that for the visual representation of the various telecommunications functions, a window-oriented user interface is available.
As shown in Fig. 1a, at rest on the input / output unit 1, a telephone symbol 4 is shown, which is used to request telecommunication functions. The Icon else's shown at the bottom left of the input / output unit 1, such as the time, be as not essential to the invention, no further explanation here.
After entering a graphic element 3 by means of a pin, eg in the form of a hook, a window 5 is opened to display the possible telecommunications function (see. Fig. 1b). If now the telecommunications function FKT Select enabled, a further window 6 is opened and displayed, the desired phone number to be entered (see. FIG. 1c). The desired number, here 8696154 can now via graphic elements, such as numbers or letters can be entered, where the software for handwriting recognition performs recognition and the recognized number is 8696154 then displays in the further window 6 (see. FIG. 1d). The control unit of the telecommunications terminal then performs in a conventional manner to choose from and thus controls the connection.
Instead of entering a phone number, a Nam can e be written, for the is then read out a stored in a memory, assigned phone number with proper detection and used for election. Instead of the numbers and / or letters can also enter any user-designed, and the software for handwriting recognition trained Gestures as an abbreviation for numbers stored in the memory and thus be used.
According to Figure 1e the participants now will be called with the number 8,696,154th In this case, according to the invention as a result of activation of a telecommunications function, here call, instead of dial tones, followed with a visual representation of the signaling states on the input / output unit. 1 This takes the form of letters and / or symbols. Of course, a representation of the signaling states in addition to the audible tones is possible.
According to Figure 1e the word call in addition to the phone number displayed in a window. 5 Once connected, Figure 1f, the display number and the state Connected takes place in a window 5. In addition, a number of the associated person's name can be displayed if a corresponding assignment is stored in the memory.
Here, a hands-free system is controlled by the control unit, switched on, which is explained by which a symbol representing a speaker.
According to the invention in which a window function represented Connected 5 during an activated, a further window 6 is opened so that further functions FKT are callable.
Will now a user trigger made the connection function, ie, end a call, he can according to the invention by inputting a graphic element 3, such as a letter M or W, is what is written on the opened a window 5, see FIG. 1 g, the compound trigger. The thus ended this week in which then represented a window through Triggered, see FIG. 1 h, and then the input / output unit 1 is returned to the idle state, see FIG. 1a, controlled.
Generally, in order to close any function, without requiring the user to be entered codes or specific combination of input keys noted. This is, as will be explained, particularly advantageous when other programs built to be triggered again within a function.
Furthermore, the functional connection, incoming, with reference to Figures 2a - 2d explained.
An incoming call opens a window 5 and is represented by the number 072 311 150 and the word reputation in the input / output unit. 1 An icon showing the state signaling reputation, arriving, a kind of "flash" to the abovementioned details, see FIG. 2a, be. If now the symbol for requesting telecommunications functions, here the phone icon by inputting a graphic element or by touching the icon is activated with the stylus, so the call is accepted, that is a connection, while the speakerphone, Symbol speakers turned on. Here is where shown a window the phone number and possibly the name of the caller and the word Connected (see FIG. 2b). Here can be represented see other features in another window 6 the opportunity. The connection establishment, see FIGS. 2c and 2d is performed, similar as in the Figures 1g and 1h described by means of a graphics input element 3, here a letter M.
In the following, the establishment of a conference call will now be described by means of the telecommunications terminal according to the invention with reference to the figures 3a to 3h.
Starting from an existing connection, as shown in Figure 3a, is now by entering in the further window 6, the callback function is activated (see FIG. 3b). This in the one window 5 represented Function Connected is controlled in the Hold function, see FIG. 3c, and asked the same in the other window 6 to enter the phone number for a consultation call. Now the user, as already explained to Figure 1c, the desired number can enter. The desired number, here 8696154 is then confirmed by detection, see FIG. 3d, and the participants it is called with the number 8696154, see FIG. 3e. To symbolize the state holding a line from the telephone symbol 4 for a window 5 is here shown "transparent", while the activated function call is represented by a corresponding full line (see FIG. 3e-3f). After the consultation structure 3f, now a conference connection can be established. For this, a graphic element 3, drawing a line between a window 5 and the further window 6 here. This simple and very catchy Gesture, see FIG. 3g, a conference call see FIG. 3h is established and confirmed in accordance with the words conference.
In place of the initialization of a conference connection, see. FIG. 3g, according to the invention can in this state, display of the function holding in one of the windows 5 and representation of the function Connected in the further window 6 a function of transfer of the call can be activated. For this purpose a Gestures in the form of a circle around the one and the other window is entered, which then activates this function. After that, either the idle state can be controlled or it may have some other function such as dialing another subscriber number are activated.
It is here that shows the simplicity of the control options in accordance with the telecommunication terminal according to the invention.
According to the described in Figures 1 to 3 functions can also all other functions are enabled or disabled by entering Gestures.
