  1. 1
An editing apparatus for editing a tape recording medium (8) which has formed thereon a plurality of recording tracks (20a,20b,20c) each being divided into a plurality of recording areas (22a,22b,22c) which are separated by a plurality of gaps (22d) such that two successive recording areas are separated by a gap disposed therebetween, a first recording area (21) of the plurality of recording areas of each recording track from a beginning end of the track having recorded therein a positioning signal (23) used for determining a position of an editing area, said apparatus comprising:recording information signal generating means (30) for generating a recording information signal to be recorded for editing;at least a recording and reproducing head (1a,1b) for recording said recording information signal onto said recording medium (8) and for reproducing the recorded signal from said recording medium;selection means (17) which is selectively operable in a first mode for transferring said recording information signal to said head and a second mode for transferring a reproduced signal from said head;editing control means (32) for producing an editing area signal indicative of said editing area;positioning signal detecting means (11) for detecting said positioning signal from a reproduced signal transferred from said selection means (17) in said second mode;and timing signal generating means (18) for generating an editing timing signal indicative of a timing corresponding to said editing area based on said editing area signal and the detected positioning signal from said positioning signal detecting means (11);said selection means (17) being responsive to said editing timing signal for selecting said first mode to thereby record said recording information signal from said recording information signal generating means into said editing area of said recording medium.
  2. 2
An editing apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein said first recording area (21) has recorded therein said positioning signal (23) multiplexed with a pilot signal (f 1 ,f 2 ) for tracking control use, said apparatus further comprising:tracking error detection means (15) for detecting said pilot signal (f 1 ,f 2 ) from the reproduced signal transferred from said selection means (17) in said second mode and generating from the detected pilot signal a tracking error signal indicative of a tracking error of said head;sampling means (14) for sampling said tracking error signal;and tracking control means (6) responsive to a sampled tracking error signal from said sampling means (14) for controlling a transfer of said recording medium (8) to eliminate the tracking error, wherein said timing signal generating means (12) generates a sampling signal in response to the detected positioning signal from said positioning signal detecting means (11), and said sampling means being responsive to said sampling signal for sampling said tracking error signal from said tracking error detection means (15).
  3. 3
An editing apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein among the plurality of gaps (22a, 22b, 22c) of each track, each gap is wider in gap width than any gap which is closer to the beginning end of the track.
  4. 4
An editing apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein among the plurality of recording areas (22a, 22b, 22c) of each track, each recording area is wider than any recording area which is closer to the beginning end of the track.
  5. 5
An editing apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein said plurality of tracks are formed such that predetermined number of tracks are scanned by a plurality of heads substantially at the same time, and wherein at least one of the predetermined number of tracks has recorded in said first recording area (21) said positioning-signal (23).
