Image forming method and apparatus which enables image recording on a process film without reducing the size of recording area beyond necessity said method and apparatus being preferred particularly in the preparation of printing master plate. The invention provides the image recording apparatus which propagates error data when there exists restriction on the minimum recording size and thereby enables to preserve concentration and reproduce intermediate gradation of darkness with stability.
