Process for steering a road vehicle with front and rear wheel steering

Abstract

There is provided a steering method for road vehicles with front and rear wheel steering, in which an integrating feedback of a measured yaw rate signal to the front wheel steering decouples the yawing motion from the lateral movement of the front axle, thereby eliminating the steering problem in two partial problems to be solved separately in a lateral guidance of the front axle by a signal which generates a driver with the steering wheel, and is divided into an automatic control of the yawing, and the eigenvalues yawing motion by returning the measured yaw rate signal to the rear wheel steering as desired are displaced so that the choice of Giereigenwerte has no effect on the steering transfer function from the steering wheel to the lateral movement of the front axle. When using the steering method according to the invention, the driver no longer needs to worry about the yawing motion of his vehicle at all; this is stable. Furthermore, the rear wheel steering can also determine the eigenvalues of the yawing movement as desired and in adaptation to the desired driving style, such as being sporty or comfortable.
