First and second camera bodies (201, 202) for stereoscopically picking up an image are mounted on a supporting plate (102) constituting a supporting mechanism formed on a base 101, by means of camera holders (105 and 106). The first and second camera bodies (201, 202) are horizontally arranged in substantially the same direction, and an angle between the optical axes of these camera bodies is fixed. The first camera body (201) is supported so as to move away from and toward the second camera body (202). A rack 112, a motor 110, and a gear 111 constitute a drive means for moving the first camera body (201). When a zoom control mechanism is controlled by a zoom control means, first and second zoom mechanisms of the camera bodies (201, 202) adjust zoom of the camera bodies and drive a motor to control an interval between the camera bodies.
