Permeable breakwater.

Abstract

A breakwater (10) for an offshore submerged retention facility or a sea dike comprises a base (24) and opposing permeable sides (26) (28) terminating at a permeable wall (60) that stops the waves. , projecting upward. The breakwater is offshore to further break the medium to strong waves, dissipating their energy before they reach the beach.

  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 9008230 A1 CLAIMS We claim:1. A permeable breakwater comprising: a base;a seaward permeable wall projecting upward from the seaward side of said base;and a landward permeable wall having one end connected to said base and projecting upward from the landward side of said base and having another end attached to said seaward permeable wall.
  2. 17
A breakwater comprising:a plurality of adjacent triangular segments each having a base, a first member having one end attached to one end of said base, and a second member having one end attached to the other end of said base, said first and second members having their other ends attached together;said first member and said base being attached on one side of said second member to form first slots between adjacent second members;spacers disposed between adjacent first members of said segments to form second slots between adjacent first members;means for attaching said plurality of segments adjacent each other;a plurality of spaced legs extending from said other ends of said members;and a plurality of anchors extending from said segments.
  3. 23
A reclamation wall, comprising:a base;a seaward permeable wall projecting upward from the seaward side of said base;a landward permeable wall projecting upward from the landward side of said base at one end and attached to said seaward permeable wall at its other end;and a filter and soil retention means for selectively draining water out of spoilage from said landward to said seaward side of the reclamation wall.
  4. 31
A reclamation wall for a seashore comprising:a plurality of triangular members with spacers therebetween connected together;and, means disposed between said adjacent triangular members for filtering particulates from the water flowing over said members.
  5. 32
A method of reclaiming land, comprising:securing a permeable reclamation wall having spaced landward chords terminating in reclamation legs and a perchwall to the seabed to form a reclamation area;pumping spoilage into the reclamation area;allowing the spoilage to drain out of the reclamation area and repeatedly pumping and draining the spoilage until a silt layer builds to the top of the perch wall;placing filter fabric over the landward chords of the reclamation wall;placing filter blocks in the spaces between each of the landward chords and each of the reclamation legs;and, pumping spoilage into the reclamation area and allowing the spoilage to drain, and repeatedly pumping and draining until the silt builds up from the top of the perch wall to the top of the permeable reclamation wall.
