Electronic fluorescent display system
Abstract
A cathodoluminescent device (101) employs elongated grid electrodes (105) such as small gauge wires for addressing and controlling the brightness of the display, thereby increasing the osmotic coefficient of the grid electrodes (105). End portions of the cathode filaments (104) are bent into springs to reduce cold terminal effects. The edges of the face plate (108) of the device are curved to reduce the visual effects of mosaic slots. The display may be operated at low anode voltage with increased luminescence so that full screen scanning is possible. Different sections of narrow strips (111) forming a staggered structure strengthens the integrity of the device and reduces dark areas in the display.
