Watch pager system.

Abstract

A paging system comprises first and second transmitters (44) for broadcasting paging messages over first and second areas, a first pager normally residing in said first area and a second pager normally residing in said second area, first and second paging request means (34) for inputting paging messages to the first and second transmitters, first and second subscriber storage means (36) associated with said first and second transmitter means for storing a current location for each of the first and second pagers (20, and communications means (38) for communicating messages between the first and second transmitters (44). The first and second areas are spaced apart so that the first pager (20) does not receive paging signals broadcast from the first transmitter means (44) while in the second area The first and second paging request means (34) each include means (30, 202) for inputting the identifying address for a selected one of the pagers and routing means (206, 210, 212) for the pagers and routing means (206, 210, 212) for routing paging messages to one of the transmitters (44) via the communications means (38) in accordance with the stored current location of the selected pager (20) so that a paging message, input via either of the first and second page requesting means (34) for the first pager (20) temporarily located in the second area, can be broadcast solely by the second transmitter (44).
