    A particulate detergent composition additive which is an intimately blended mixture comprising (i) from 30 to 95% of a precursor compound having the formula :wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each a radical selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, alkaryl, aryl, phenyl, hydroxyalkyl, polyoxyalkylene, and R 4 OCOL;or two or more of R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 together form an alkyl substituted or unsubstituted nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring system;or at least one of R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 is attached to R 4 to form an alkyl substituted or unsubstituted nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring system;R 4 is selected from a bridging group consisting of alkylene, cycloalkylene, alkylenephenylene, phenylene, arylene, and polyalkoxylene;and wherein the bridging group can be unsubstituted or substituted with C 1 -C 20 atoms selected from alkyl, alkenyl, benzyl, phenyl and aryl radicals;Z - is a monovalent or multivalent anion leading to charge neutrality when combined with Q + in the appropriate ratio and wherein Z- is sufficiently oxidatively stable not to interfere significantly with bleaching by a peroxy carbonic acid;Q is nitrogen or phosphorous;and L is selected from the group consisting of wherein R 5 and R 6 are a C 1 -C 12 alkyl group, R 7 is H or R 5 , and Y is selected from the group consisting of H, -SO - 3 M + , -COO - M + , -SO - 4 M + , -N + (R 5 ) 3 X - , NO 2 , OH and O <-N(R 5 ) 2 and mixtures thereof;M + is a cation which provides solubility to the precursor, add X- is an anion which provides solubility to the precursor;(ii) a stabilizing agent for said precursor present in an effective amount to restrain hydrolysis, said stabilizing agent being selected from the group consisting of solid inorganic acids and C 4 or higher organic acids having at least one carboxylic group;and (iii) a dispersing agent which is a water-soluble ethoxylated material present in an effective amount to promote dispersion of the particulate in an aqueous medium, said agent being selected from the group consisting of alkoxylated fatty alcohols, alkoxylated fatty acids, alkoxylated alkylphenols, polypropoxylated-polyethoxylated copolymers and mixtures thereof, the ratio of stabilizing agent to dispersing agent ranging from about 5:1 to 1:5.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 1, wherein the stabilizing agent is present in amounts from 5% up to 50%.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 1 or 2, wherein the stabilizing agent is selected from the group consisting of C 4 -C 22 monocarboxylic acids, C 4 -C 22 dicarboxylic acids, C 4 -C 22 tri- or higher polycarboxylic acids, and mixtures thereof.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 3, wherein the stabilizing agent is selected from the group consisting of lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic and iso-stearic acids.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 3, wherein the stabilizing agent is selected from the group consisting of polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid and polyacrylic/maleic acid polymers.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 3, wherein the stabilizing agent is a dicarboxylic or tricarboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of phthalic, therepthalic, isophthalic, tartaric, citric, carboxymethyloxy succinic, fumaric, maleic, malic, adipic, succinic, oxydisuccinic, dodecanedioic acids and mixtures thereof.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 3, wherein the stabilizing agent is a monocarboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of benzoic, benzylic, ethylhexanoic, n-octanoic acids and mixtures thereof.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 1, wherein the stabilizing agent is potassium bisulphate.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 1, wherein the dispersing agent is present in an amount from about 5% to about 50% by weight.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 9, wherein the dispersing agent is present in an amount from about 10% to about 20% by weight.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 1, 9 or 10, wherein the dispersing agent is selected from the group consisting of alkoxylated C 10 -C 22 fatty alcohols, alkoxylated C 10 -C 22 fatty acids, alkoxylated C 6 -C 22 alkyl phenols, polypropoxylated-polyethoxylated copolymers, and mixtures thereof.

    A particulate additive according to any of the preceding Claims 1-11, wherein the stabilizing agent and dispersing agent are present in a respective ratio of from 1:1 to 1:3 where the stabilizing agent is a water-insoluble acid.

    A particulate additive according to any of the preceding Claims 1-11, wherein the stabilizing agent and dispersing agent are present in a respective ratio of from 3:1 to 1:3 where the stabilizing agent is a water-soluble acid.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 1, wherein the dispersing agent is a polyoxyethylene stearyl ether.

    A particulate additive according to any of the preceding Claims 1-14, wherein the precursor is defined by M + being hydrogen, alkali metal, ammonium or alkyl or hydroxyalkyl substituted ammonium cation, and X- being a halide, hydroxide, phosphate, sulphate, methyl sulphate or acetate anion.

    A particulate additive according to Claim 15, wherein L has the formula wherein M + is a sodium, potassium or ammonium cation.

    A particulate additive according to any of the preceding Claims 1-16, wherein Q is nitrogen and R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each the same or different and selected from C 1 -C 20 atom radicals selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkylaryl, benzyl, hydroxyalkyl, and heterocyclic rings containing the quaternary nitrogen where R 1 and R 4 or R 1 and R 2 are joined together, and mixtures of groups thereof.

    A particulate additive according to any of the preceding Claims 1-17, wherein the precursor is 2-(N,N,N-trimethylammonium)ethyl 4-sulphophenyl carbonate salt.

    A bleaching-detergent composition comprising :(i) from 1 to 60% of a peroxygen compound capable of yielding hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution;(ii) from 0.1 to 40% of the particulate additive of Claim 1;(iii) from 1 to 50% of a surfactant;and (iv) from 0 to 70% of a detergent builder.

    A bleaching-detergent composition according to Claim 19, wherein the precursor is 2-(N,N,N-trimethylammonium)ethyl 4-sulphophenyl carbonate salt.
