EP0356684A2

Electrostatic dust collector for use in vacuum system.

Abstract

An electrostatic dust collector (K1, K2) including a wall (1) enclosing a vacuum chamber (C) in which a target face (9a) to be subjected to dust removal is provided, an electron beam emitting device (2) for emitting electron beams to dust (13) on the target face (9a) so as to charge the dust (13) negatively, a dielectric member (10) which is provided in the vacuum chamber (C) and has a collecting face (10a) confronting the target face (9a) and a member (11, 12) for imparting positive potential to the collecting face (10a) such that the dust (13) charged negatively is attracted to the collecting face (10a).

2 claims: 1 independent, 1 dependent

  1. 1
An electrostatic dust collector (K1, K2) comprising:a wall (1) enclosing a vacuum chamber (C) in which a target face (9a) to be subjected to dust removal is provided;an electron beam emitting means (2) for emitting electron beams to dust (13) on said target face (9a) so as to charge the dust (13) negatively;a dielectric member (10) which is provided in the vacuum chamber (C) and has a collecting face (10a) confronting said target face (9a);and means (11, 12) for imparting positive potential to said collecting face (10a) such that the dust (13) charged negatively is attracted to said collecting face (10a).
  2. 2
An electrostatic dust collector (K2) as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said dielectric member (10) is formed into a tapelike shape, said electrostatic dust collector (K2) further comprising:a cassette (14) which accommodates said dielectric member (10) and includes first and second hubs (16, 17) and an electrode (11a, 11b) for imparting positive potential to said collecting face (10a);said dielectric member (10) being trained over said first and second hubs (16, 17) so as to be fed from said first hub (16) to said second hub (17);said electrode (11a, 11b) being disposed at a location confronting, in the course of a path of feed of said dielectric member (10) from said first hub (16) to said second hub (17), said target face (9a);and a drive means (20) for driving said second hub (17) so as to feed said dielectric member (10).
