Composite non-woven fabric material, method of its production and its use

The present invention provides a composite non-woven fiber material comprising at least one stainless steel fiber layer (3, 3′) and at least one carbon fiber layer (2), the alternating stainless steel fiber layers (3, 3′) and car­bon fiber layers (2) being intimately interlocked to form an integrated composite material, at least one exposed surface layer thereof being a stainless steel fiber layer (3, 3′). The invention further provides a method for pro­ducing these composite materials and their use, particu­larly as high temperature resistant sealing, filter and cushioning materials, and for conveyor belts.
