p0001The purpose of the separate arrangement of video and audio signals on an optical disk is described in the patent application no. 5884 / 82-9. It is one part about producing an audio-visual program on the same optical disk in several languages and retrieve on demand in any one of these languages. On the other hand it is also important to be able to receive acoustic signals even when the device is in the still mode. For then no acoustic information more is possible in the conventional optical disc, since the laser beam stops on a "groove" and only scans the frame in question.
