Character processing apparatus.

Abstract

There is provided a character processing apparatus such as an electronic typewriter which can erase the recorded characters on a word unit basis. The apparatus comprises: a keyboard (1) to input a plurality of character strings such as English words; a memory to store the character strings input by the keyboard; a printer head (3) which can record the character strings stored in the memory onto a recording paper and can delete the recorded character strings; a deletion instructing device to instruct to delete one of the character strings recorded on the paper (7) by the printer head (3); and a control which is constructed in a manner such that in response to the deletion instruction, when the printer head exists at the position corresponding to the character string recorded on the paper (7), this character string is deleted, and when the printer head (3) does not exist at the position corresponding to the character string recorded on the paper (7), the printer head (3) is moved to the position of the nearest character string and this character string is deleted. The printer head (3) is a head of the type wheel printer mechanism.

  1. 1
A character processing apparatus comprising:input means for inputting a plurality of character strings;memory means for storing the plurality of character strings input by said input means;recording means for recording the plurality of character strings stored in said memory means onto a recording medium, said recording means being capable to delete the recorded character strings;deletion instructing means for instructing to delete one of said plurality of character strings recorded on the recording medium by said recording means;and control means which is constructed in a manner such that in response to said deletion instruction of said deletion instructing means, when said recording means exists at the position corresponding to the character string recorded on the recording medium, this character string is deleted, and when the recording means does not exist at the position corresponding to the character string recorded on the recording medium, the recording means is moved to the position of the nearest character string and this character string is deleted.
  2. 4
A character processing apparatus comprising:input means for inputting a plurality of character data;memory means for storing the plurality of character data input by said input means;recording means for recording the characters corresponding to the character data stored in the memory means onto a recording medium;deleting means for deleting the characters recorded on the recording meidum;deletion instructing means for instructing to delete the characters recorded on the recording medium on a predetermined character string unit basis;and control means which is constructed in a manner such that in response to the deletion instruction by said deletion instructing means, when said recording means exists at the position corresponding to the character string recorded on the recording medium, this character string is deleted, and when the recording means does not exist at the position of the character string recorded on the recording medium, the deleting means is moved to the position of the nearest character string.
  3. 7
A character processing apparatus comprising:input means for inputting character data and control data;memory means for storing the character data and control data which were input by said input means;printing means for printing characters corresponding to the character data stored in said memory means onto a recording medium, said printing means being capable to delete the printed characters;pointer means for indicating the position on the recording medium where said printing means is located;detecting means for detecting whether the data in the memory means corresponding to the position of the printing means indicated by said pointer means is the character data or the control data;deletion instructing means for instructing to delete the printed characters on the recording medium;and control means which is constructed in a manner such that in response to the deletion instruction of said deletion instructing means, when the result of the detection by said detecting means indicates the character data, the character corresponding to said character data is deleted by said printing means, and when the result of the detection indicates the control data, the printing means is moved to the position of the nearest printed character.
  4. 11
Apparatus for receiving character inputs and providing character outputs, the apparatus having a next character output position such that during normal operation if a character is input it will be output at the next character output position, and the apparatus having a delete function for deleting at least one output character, characterised in that if the delete function is operated when the next character output position is at the position of a character which has already been output, that character at least is deleted, whereas if following a character input operation the delete function is operated when the next character output position is not at the position of a character which has already been output, the next character output position is moved to the position of the nearest preceding character which has already been output.
