Video signal mixing device of infrared/visible integrated imaging apparatus.

Abstract

A infrared/visible integrated imaging apparatus has a video signal mixing device for superimposing a visible video signal upon an infrared video signal. The device has a discriminating circuit (8) setting electrical discrimination between the infrared video signal having a higher level than the black level and that lower than the black level. The visible video signal simultaneously outputted with the infrared video signal having the higher level is practically cut off with a visible video signal selecting circuit (9). The partially cut off video signal is superimposed on the thermal video signal. The level of both video signals are controllable independently of each other.

  1. 1
A video signal mixing device for superimposing a visible video signal outputted from a visible camera (2) upon an infrared video signal outputted from an infrared camera (1) both of said cameras being focused on a common object, said video signal mixing device comprising:a black level discriminating circuit (8) for discriminating a part of said infrared video signal lower than a predetermined black level from the rest part of said infrared video signal higher than said black level;a visible video signal selecting circuit (9) for for selectively outputting said visible video signal during the presence of said discriminated part of said infrared video signal lower than said black level, and selectively cutting off said video signal during the presence of said rest part of said infrared video signal higher than said black level;and a mixing circuit (5) for superimposing said selectively outputted visible video signal upon said infrared video signal.
  2. 2
A video signal mixing device recited in claim 1, wherein said visible video signal is outputted from said visible camera (2) in synchronization with said infrared video signal outputted from said infrared camera (1).
  3. 3
A video signal mixing device recited in claim 1 or 2, wherein said black level discriminating circuit (8) issues a binary signal comprising a high level signal indicating the simultaneous presence of said infrared video signal having a level higher than said black level, and a low level signal indicating the simultaneous presence of said infrared video signal having a level lower than said black level.
  4. 4
A video signal mixing device recited in claim 3, wherein said visible video signal selecting circuit (9) cuts off said visible video signal during the presence of said high signal of said binary signal.
  5. 5
A video signal mixing device recited in claim 1, further comprising:an infrared video signal level adjusting circuit (3) receiving said infrared video signal fed from said infrared camera (1) and adjusting the level of said received infrared video signal to a level within a signal level range ranging from the black level to a threshold level at which the brightness of resulted image is at maximum: and an invisible video signal level adjusting circuit (4) receiving said visible video signal fed from said visible camera(2)and adjusting the level of said received visible video signal to a level within said signal level range, thereby said adjustments of said infrared video signal level and said visible video signal level are performed independently of each other.
  6. 6
A video signal mixing device recited in claim 1 or 5, further comprising:a low-pass filter (15) operatively connected to said infrared camera (1) and to said black level discriminating circuit (8),for filtering said infrared signal fed from said infrared camera (1)to eliminate electrical noises contained in said infrared video signal.
  7. 7
An infrared/visible integrated imaging apparatus comprising:a TV monitor (7) for displaying a composite image of an object to be observed on the screen of said TV monitor (7);an optical separator (14) for separating optical ray radiated from said object (23) into an infrared ray and a visible ray;an infrared camera (1) focused upon said object (23) along an optical axis, receiving said infrared ray, and converting said infrared ray to an infrared video signal to be displayed as an infrared image on the screen of said TV monitor (7);a visible camera (2) focused upon said object (23) along the same optical axis of said infrared camera (1), receiving said visible ray, and converting said visible ray to a visible video signal to be displayed as a visible image on the screen of said TV monitor (7);a video signal mixing means (5) for forming a composite signal to display said composite image in which said visible image is selectively superimposed upon a part of said infrared image having the brightness level below the black level.
