Process for the production of products based on silicone resin, starting from an inorganic fibrous material

Abstract

Structures of inorganic fibers, optionally in admixture with inorganic grains, flakes or powders, and aqueous silicone resin emulsions containing curing catalysts and emulsifiers are prepared by adding the emulsion to the fiber, deforming the thus treated fiber and then curing the silicone resin salts or chelates of trivalent iron are used as curing catalysts. The curing catalyst used is preferably iron (III) acetylacetonate. Preferably, the above-mentioned structures are produced in a continuous process in which the aqueous silicone resin emulsion is sprayed onto the fiber material, the thus prepared fiber material is compacted to the desired density and the curing of the silicone resin is carried out by blowing hot gases. The curing of the silicone resin is preferably carried out in a period of 5 to 8 minutes at a temperature of the hot gases of 150 to 300 ° C.
