Bird proofing device.
Abstract
Improvements to bird-proofing devices of the type comprising a supporting plate adhesively bonded to the surface to be protected and barbs extending perpendicularly to the said plate, characterised in that the supporting plate (1, 7) is smooth on its two faces and has holes (3) in each of which is inserted the lower end of a barb (2), consisting of a piece of sectioned metal wire which is kept in place by means of adhesive bonding. The holes (3) are arranged in such a manner that the distance between two adjacent barbs is constant.

p0001The present invention relates to improvements to devices to prevent the parking of volatiles such as pigeons.
p0002We know that in large cities the proliferation of pigeons resulted nuisance of all kinds.
p0003One of the most effective ways to prevent these volatile stationed on buildings consists of providing these pins being in the form of needles, suitably spaced, whose length is of the order of 100 millimeters and prevent pigeons from landing.
p0004One such way is described in the French Patent No. 8320857 published under No. 2,556,932.
p0005According to the device described in this patent, the pins are associated in pairs, each pin constituting one of the side branches of a wire bent in a U-shape whose middle portion is shaped to snap onto a lug provided on a support plate fixed, by bonding, on the surface to protéger.Chaque pair of pins is located in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the support plate.
p0006This device is effective but it is very expensive, both as regards the length of the wire used, the shaping of the middle part, which require the use of special machines and construction of the mold for the support plate.
p0007The present invention which overcomes these drawbacks is characterized in that the device consists of a support plate, smooth on both sides, having suitably spaced holes in each of which is inserted the lower end of a pin consisting of a metal rod which is held in place by adhesive.
p0008The invention will be better understood from the following description, with reference to the accompanying drawings by way of indication only, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a protective device according to the invention;

Figure 2 is a view similar to that 1 showing an alternative embodiment;

Figure 3 is a partial sectional view and on an enlarged scale showing the fixing of a pin on a plate;

Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 3 showing an alternative embodiment;

Figure 5 is a perspective view showing the mounting of the pin of FIG 4;

Figure 6 shows in perspective a hook for attaching the device of the invention on the edge of a standard gutter;

Figure 7 is a perspective view showing the attachment of the hook of Figure 6 on the support plate of Figure 2.

p0009Referring to the drawings and according to the invention, it is seen that the protective device consists of a support plate 1, smooth on both sides, having pins 2 extending perpendicular to the upper face of said plate is bonded in the usual manner, by its lower face on the surface to be protected.
p0010Preferably, the pins 2 are arranged in equilateral triangle vertex so that the space between two adjacent pins is constant.
p0011As is apparent, in particular, Figures 1 and 3, the pins are obtained at low cost by cutting a wire.
p0012The plate 1 has holes 3 in each of which engages the lower end of each pin which is held by bonding using a conventional adhesive.
p0013As shown in Figure 3, it is possible to reduce the thickness of the plate 1 if, at the location of each pin there is provided a small boss 4.
p0014As shown in Figures 4 and 5, it can improve the stability of the pins by providing at the lower end thereof a curved portion 5 at a right angle, said bent portion being housed in a groove 6 made on the underside of the plate 1 and opening into the hole 3.
p0015Figure 2 shows a perspective view of a support plate 7, the same functions than 1 but whose forms are studied for both save material and to make it less visible.
p0016This plate 7 is particularly adapted to allow its fixing on the edge of a gutter as appears in particular from Figures 6 and 7.
p0017To this end, using a hook 8 made of an elastically deformable material capable of latching onto the rounded edge of a conventional gutter and affecting, in this case, the shape of a U to closed branches.
p0018Above the middle part of the hook extends a lug 9 forming in combination with said portion, a clamp between the limbs of which can be inserted the central core 10 of the plate 7. The bracket 9 has an end ASON flange 11 extending towards the hook 8 and can penetrate into the recessed portion 12 of the plate 7.
p0019The outer flange of the hook 8 has an extension 13 that may bear against the gutter to ensure the positioning of the plate 7.
p0020Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown but encompasses on the contrary all variations of shapes, materials and dimensions.
