EP0339880A2

Low adhesion compositions of perfluoropolyethers.

Abstract

A coated article is provided. The coated article has a substrate having a low surface energy coating thereon, said coating comprising an in situ polymerized monofunctional poly(perfluoropropyleneoxy) acrylate or methacrylate oligomer. The oligomer has a poly(perfluoropropyleneoxy) segment, [CF(CF3)CF2O]d, which has a number average molecular weight of about 800 to 25,000.

  1. 1
A coated article comprising a substrate having a low surface energy coating thereon, said coating comprising an in situ polymerized monofunctional poly(perfluoropropyleneoxy) acrylate or methacrylate oligomer, said oligomer having a poly(perfluoropropyleneoxy) segment, [CF(CF 3 )CF 2 0] d , having a number average molecular weight of about 800 to 25,000.
  2. 13
A pressure-sensitive adhesive tape comprising a flexible substrate having a low surface energy coating on one surface thereof, said coating comprising an in situ polymerized monofunctional poly-(perfluoropropyleneoxy) acrylate or methacrylate oligomer, and said substrate having a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the second surface of said substrate opposite said low surface energy coated surface.
  3. 15
A pressure-sensitive adhesive transfer tape comprising a flexible substrate having a low surface energy coating on at least one surface thereof, said coating comprising an in situ polymerized monofunctional poly(perfluoropropyleneoxy) acrylate or methacrylate oligomer, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive on at least one coated surface.
  4. 18
A process for preparing a coated substrate comprising the steps of applying to said substrate a coating solution comprising a monofunctional poly(perfluoropropyleneoxy) acrylate or methacrylate oligomer dissolved in a solvent therefor;drying said coating solution to remove said solvent;polymerizing said oligomer to form a low surface energy coating.
