The composition of Claim 1 where A is a bromine atom, R denotes a methyl radical, x is 4 and y is 0.
  3. 3
A polymer formed by polymerizing the compositions defined by Claim 1, where said polymer can be represented by the general formula where m denotes the average degree of polymerization of the polymer, x is an integer from 1 to 10, y is 0 or an integer from 1 to 3, A denotes a halogen atom, and R denotes an alkyl radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
  4. 4
The polymer of Claim 3, where A is a bromine atom, R denotes a methyl radical, x is 4, and y is 0.
  5. 5
A polymer represented by the general formula where R denotes an alkyl radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, x is an integer from 1 to 10, y is 0 or an integer from 1 to 3, and A denotes an organofunctional moiety.
  6. 6
The polymer of Claim 5, where R denotes methyl radicals, x is 4, y is 0, and A is an organo-functional moiety of the type chosen from the group consisting of methyacrylate, styrene, quaternary ammonium salts, acetate and alcohol functional moieties.
  7. 7
A copolymer formed by polymerizing the composition of Claim 1 with 1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne, which can be represented by the general formula where m + n is the average degree of polymerization of the polymer, and x, y an A are as defined in Claim 1.
  8. 8
A polymer represented by the general formula where R denotes an alkyl radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, x is 1 to 10, y is 0 to 3, m+n is the average degree of polymerization of the polymer, and A is an organofunctional moiety chosen from the group consisting of methacrylate, styrene, quaternary ammonium salts, acetate, and alcohol functional moieties.
