13 claims: 5 independent, 8 dependent

  1. 1
A composition capable of being crosslinked by the action of water comprising (A) a silyl polymer, (B) an aromatic ester, and (C) an organometallic silanol condensation catalyst.
  2. 6
A composition as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 5 in which the aromatic ester has a boiling point at a pressure of 500 Pa of at least 200°C.
  3. 7
A composition as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 6 in which the aromatic ester has a viscosity of less than 300 mPa.s at 20°C and of less than 15 mPa.s at 100°C.
  4. 10
A composition as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 9 in which the molar ratio of the quantities of aromatic ester to silanol condensation catalyst is in the range 6:1 to 1:2.
  5. 11
A process for producing a crosslinked product comprising thermoforming a composition comprising a silyl polymer and a silanol condensation catalyst and thereafter crosslinking by the action of water, characterised in that an aromatic ester is incorporated into the composition prior to thermoforming.
