Coded remote control with a code-changing facility.
Abstract
The system is of the type that contains a transmitter with devices for transmitting and transferring a coded message, and also a receiver with devices for receiving the message sent out by the transmitter, devices for comparing the said message with a stored message and devices for transmitting a control signal in the case of agreement between the received message and the stored message. The remote control system in accordance with the invention is characterised by the fact that the receiver contains in its memory a previously specified fixed code, reception of which does not cause transmission of the said control signal but actuates devices for input into the said memory of a control code that has been received after the said fixed code, the said, previously specified fixed code being sent out by a programmable transmitter. Application in the automobile industry.

p0001This invention relates to a coded remote control with a code conversion from the type including a transmitter having means for transmitting and transmitting an encoded message and a receiver having means for receiving the broadcast from the transmitter message, further comprising means for comparing the said message with a stored message, and means for transmitting a control signal in case of agreement between the received message and the stored message.
p0002Such remote controls are used in particular in the automotive industry for controlling the locking / unlocking of doors, an alarm, for controlling vehicle blocking elements etc.
p0003Typically the transmitter and receiver are combined with a same fixed code, which causes many problems on the line assembly, are separated in the transmitter and receiver. In addition brings the arrangement of a new transmitter, if the old is lost, destroyed or a new station is required, the need for costly installation and difficult to engage.
p0004To overcome this difficulty, it has been proposed to equip the remote control with programming means, for example with a switch which can be actuated by the user and program a new coded message allowing that can be stored.
p0005Such an arrangement has the great disadvantage that the stored code can be changed by an unauthorized third party who has a new station and has access to the programming devices. Even if the programming equipment only when the transmission of the already stored message can be effective, as it provides a variation of the proposed device, there is nevertheless still a risk of code conversion by third parties.
p0006Present invention has the purpose of eliminating those occurring in the known devices difficulties.
p0007To this end, the remote control is in accordance with the invention is characterized in that the receiver in the memory includes a fixed code, which has been set in advance and does not cause the reception, the transmission of said control signal, but operated means for inputting a control code in said memory by received the fixed code named, said and predetermined fixed code is sent by a programmable transmitter.
p0008The programmable transmitter preferably uses Codierrädern or a keyboard. In one embodiment of the invention, the memory of the receiver consists of a block of registers, each of which contains the first said and predetermined fixed code, during the reception of said fixed code causes the opening of a subroutine for shifting and coding of the second register.
p0009The system according to the invention allows the encoding of a receiver after delivery of the vehicle by means of a transmitter with any code in which the previously specifically defined for the vehicle fixed code is sent using the programmable transmitter. This programmable transmitter which is located only in the possession of authorized repairers, thereby allowing due to the remote control even the remote entering a code into the memory of these does not contain or contains a code other than the radio station.
p0010The process is the same when the memory already contains a code and the user wants to change this code. This is for example the case with the transmitter loss or destruction. The user can then purchase a new transmitter with any code that can be entered instead of the old code in the receiver memory, provided a programmable memory and the predetermined fixed code of the vehicle is available. This fixed code thus represents a memory access code.
p0011In the case of a register block, which may include a plurality of control codes, for example, the respective codes for different users, the operation is the same. By entering a new code, the code contained in the final register is output from the memory.
p0012The programmable transmitter is a simple and inexpensive device whose use for the dealers is simple and economical.
p0013The systematic shift described above, in the loss of a transmitter whose code has been recorded, representing a difficulty. In fact become useless code in memory can not be directly replaced by the code of a new transmitter, because the space is not known. It must therefore not only the code of the new transmitter to be reentered, but also the codes ments of all other channels that are thus still valid. This process is time consuming and not very flexible.
p0014An embodiment of the invention allows to solve this problem. For this purpose the said programmable transmitter transmits on the broadcast of that and predetermined fixed code by the programmable transmitter a sequence number that corresponds to one of the registers, and the receiver stores the control code in the storage compartment that is associated with that serial number.
p0015This sequence number is thus associated with the transmitter. In this transmitter loss, it is sufficient, stating the same serial number as that which was lost or destroyed, einzuspeichern the code of the exchange station. At the transmitter, the serial number can be entered in the form of a digit or preferably in the form of a color. In this case, the programmable transmitter features consequence buttons with different colors. After storing the code of each transmitter receives a mark with the color of the button used in the form of a paint indelibly, a colored label or pin made of colored plastic, which is inserted into an aperture of the receiver.
