The invention relates to a chair according to the preamble of claim 1.

In a known chair of this type (EP-A 0105955), the front seat part is rigidly connected to the seat carrier. This seat part remains so regardless of the angle of the backrest is always in the same position. Starting from this prior art, the invention has the object to provide a chair of the presupposed as known type such that with modified backrest angle and the position and angle of the front seat part to be changed and beyond the pivoting of the backrest a substantially constant distance from the trailing edge of the rear seat part is maintained.

This object is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of claim. 1

The chair according to the invention ensures that the distance of the seat from the backrest practically over the entire pivoting range remains the same.

By locking the energy accumulator 13, which is a gas spring in the illustrated embodiment, the backrest and synchronized so pivoted seat can be locked in any desired pivotal position.
