26 claims: 6 independent, 20 dependent

  1. 1
An active energy ray-curable resin composition which gives a cured product having a refractive index of not more than 1.44, said composition comprising (I) a fluorine-containing polymer composed of (A) a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate, (B) an alpha,beta-ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid ester and/or (C) a mono(meth)acrylate and having a fluorine atom content of at least 30% by weight, (II) a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate, (III) a mono(meth)acrylate and (IV) a polyfunctional monomer containing at least two (meth)acryloyl groups in the molecule.
  2. 6
The composition of any one of claims 1 to 5 wherein wherein the mono(meth)acrylate (C) and the mono(meth)acrylate (III) are mono(meth)acrylate compounds having a substituent with 3 to 12 carbon atoms at the ester moiety.
  3. 13
The composition of any one of claims 1 to 12 wherein the polyfunctional monomer (IV) is a compound having a methyl group in the molecule.
  4. 14
A method of forming optical fibers, which comprises coating an optical fiber core with an active energy ray-curable resin composition which gives a cured product having a refractive index of not more than 1.44, said composition comprising (I) a fluorine-containing polymer composed of (A) a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate, (B) an alpha,beta- ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid ester and/or (C) a mono(meth)acrylate and having a fluorine atom content of at least 30% by weight, (II) a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate, (III) a mono(meth)-acrylate and (IV) a polyfunctional monomer containing at least two (meth)acryloyl groups in the molecule, and thereafter irradiating active energy rays onto the coating to cure it.
  5. 19
The method of any one of claims 14, 15, 16, 17 or 18 wherein the mono(meth)acrylate (C) and the mono(meth)acrylate (III) are mono(meth)acrylate compounds having a substituent with 3 to 12 carbon atoms at the ester moiety.
  6. 26
The method of any one of claims 14 to 25 wherein the polyfunctional monomer (IV) is a compound having a methyl group in the molecule.
