Abstract

A cell separator which can separate cells, especially lymphocytes, with high selectivity and high efficiency without changing the cell population ratio of the cells. The cell separator comprises fibrous material containing fibers including hydroxyl apatite.

18 claims: 5 independent, 13 dependent

  1. 1
A fibrous cell separator comprising fibers containing hydroxyl apatite.
  2. 8
The process of anyone of claims 5 to 7, wherein the aqueous suspension contains 10 to 90 % by weight of water, 5 to 70% by weight of hydroxyl apatite, and 5 to 40 % by weight of the binder, preferably 50 to 70 % by weight of water, 15 to 30 % by weight of hydroxyl apatite, and 15 to 30 % by weight of the binder and more preferably 60 to 65 % by weight of water, 15 to 20 % by weight of hydroxyl apatite, and 20 to 25 % by weight of the binder.
  3. 9
The process of anyone of claims 5 to 8, wherein the binder is selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxylpropyl cellulose, collagen, pullulan and chitin, polyacrylamide, polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, polyitaconic acid, polyethylene oxide, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinylmethylene ether, xanthine gum and guar gum and preferably is chitin.
  4. 12
A device for separating cells comprising a column, and the fibrous cell separator of anyone of claims 1 to 4.
  5. 18
A method of eliminating immunosuppressive lymphocytes and/or immunosuppressive factor-producing cells comprising subjecting a cell suspension containing immunosuppressive lymphocytes and/or immunosuppressive factor-producing cells to the device of any one of claims 12 to 17, thereby adsorbing the immunosuppressive lymphocytes and/or immunosuppressive factor-producing cells to the fibrous cell separator in the column.
