Memory access control circuit.

Abstract

Memory address signals (UA, LA) consisting of upper and lower address signals output from a memory access circuit (11) are retained by an address counter (12). An address comparator (16) compares the upper address signal retained by the address counter (12) and the next upper address signal (UA) from the memory access circuit (11). If these upper address signals coincide with each other, a multiplexer (13) is controlled by a timing control circuit (17), and only the lower address signal (LA) held by the address counter (12) is supplied to a memory (18) via an address bus (14). However, if the above upper address signals do not coincide with each other, the multiplexer (13) is controlled by the timing control circuit (17). In this case, the upper and lower address signals retained by the address counter (12) are multiplexed, and the multiplexed signals are supplied to the memory (18) via the address bus (14). The timing control circuit (17) also supplies a row address strobe signal (R AS) and a column address strobe signal (C AS to the memory (18).

  1. 1
A memory access control circuit comprising:a memory access circuit (11) for outputting memory address data consisting of upper and lower address signals to access a memory and for requesting updating of a memory address as needed;address retaining means (12;22) for retaining the upper and lower address signals output from said memory access circuit (11) and for updating the memory address by a predetermined value on the basis of a control signal;upper address detecting means (15, 16;27) for detecting a change in upper address signal output from said memory access circuit (11);address switching means (13) for sequentially switching and outputting the upper and lower address signals retained by said address retaining means (12: 22);an address bus (14) to which multiplexed upper and lower address signals output from said address switching means (13) are transferred;a memory (18) for receiving the multiplexed upper and lower address signals from said address bus (14);and control means (17;27) for controlling said address switching means (13) to send only the lower address signal onto said address bus (14) when an output from said upper address detecting means (15, 16;27) represents no updating of the upper address signal and to send the sequentially switched upper and lower address signals onto said address bus (14) when the output from said upper address detecting means (15, 16;27) represents updating of the upper address, under the condition that new address data is output from said memory access circuit (11) or said memory access circuit (11) requests updating of the memory address.
