17 claims: 3 independent, 14 dependent

  1. 1
A cordless telephone apparatus comprising:a fixed unit (1) and a portable unit (2), each having control means (102 and 202, resp.) for channel scanning to determine whether or not each of a plurality of channels is engaged, means (S19,S20) for detecting on a given engaged channel a call addressed to the unit to produce a detect signal, and means (S21) responsive to said detect signal for performing a call connection process, said portable unit (2) being battery-charged in a state where it is connected to said fixed unit (1);and characterized by    a connecting line (110,210) for transmitting and receiving signals between said two control means in a state where said portable unit is connected to said fixed unit;and    means for synchronizing the channel scanning processes of said two control means through said connecting line.
  2. 8
A cordless telephone apparatus as claimed in any of Claims 5 to 7, wherein said first detector means (300) includes a photodiode (301) inserted in series on the way of said charging connection lines for sensing the voltage of said charging connection lines and a phototransistor (302) detecting the output of said photodiode (301) to provide an output as the output of said first detector means (300), and wherein said second detector means (400) includes a voltage detecting transistor (403) connected in parallel to said charging connection lines for sensing and detecting the voltage of said charging connection lines to provide an output as the output of said second detector means (400).
  3. 9
A method for synchronizing the channel scanning processes of first and second units (1 and 2, resp.) of a cordless telephone comprising the steps of:(a) charging the secondary battery (208) of said second unit (2) with power supplied from said first unit (1);(b) scanning in a prescribed order a plurality of channels at said first and second units to check whether or not each of said plurality of channels is idle;(b1) when a given channel of said channels is not idle, detecting on said given channel a call addressed to said first or second unit to produce a detect signal;(b2) responsive to said detect signal, performing a call connection process;and characterized by the steps of: (c) connecting the control sections (102 and 202, resp.) of said first and second units with a control line during the charging step of said secondary battery (208);and (d) synchronizing the channel scanning of said second unit (2) with that of said first unit (1) through said control line.
