Preserving means for metal surfaces and process for coating the same.
Abstract
The preserving means contains a dispersion containing metal salt and about 10 to 25 % by weight of acrylate copolymers in fully demineralised water. To coat a metal surface with the preserving means, the surface is treated with a non-effervescing cleaning means and then subjected to residue-free evaporation and dried, after which 1 to 45 g/m<2> of the preserving means are deposited on the surface 1.

p0001The invention relates to a preservative for metal surfaces, in particular anodized aluminum surfaces, as well as a method for coating such a metal surface.
p0002Surfaces of this type must be cleaned frequently in general, and then are preserved. The usual preservatives have the next cleaning procedure - to be removed and then reapplied - at considerable expense. Another disadvantage has been found that such preservation layers only offer insufficient protection.
p0003For conservative treatment of anodized aluminum sheet dissolved waxes are commonly used in organic solvents; this lead to Verdun Stung the solvent into a thin film. Such wax layers, however, have not proven particularly useful in practice because stick due to their slightly sticky consistency of dust and dirt on them and have conserved with wax surfaces after only a relatively short time a rather high degree of pollution.
p0004Given these disadvantages of the prior art, the inventor has now set itself the goal of finding a new preservative with dirt and dust resistant properties, and a simple method for treating metal surfaces for the purpose of preservation.
p0005To achieve this object, that the preservative containing a metal salt-containing dispersion having about 10 to 25 wt .-% acrylate copolymer in deionized water.
p0006Moreover, the dispersion having a content of polymethacrylic of about 0.5 to 5 wt .-% and / or at least one of the features of claims 4 to 7th
p0007The preferred total solids content of the dispersion is about 10 to 30 wt .-%, especially 10 to 15 wt .-%.
p0008In a particularly preferred embodiment the preservative contains each of these components or features.
p0009The method of coating a metal surface with the preservative is characterized in that the surface is first treated with a non-pearly detergents, as it can be used for example for washing glasses. Then, the surface rinsed clear and od with a window wiper. Like. Removed residue-free, whereupon one od the edges or the entire area with a leather. Like. Dries. Then, on the surface of 1 to 45 g / m2, Preferably 1 to 10 g / m2, In particular 1.8 to 2.2 g/m2applied, the preservative, for which an absorbent cloth, such as a felt insert od. like., is used.
p0010The preservative may be prepared in a simple manner so that is stirred the leveling agent in the fully desalinated water and then added to glycol, after which the metal salt containing acrylate copolymer dispersion, then the dispersing and finally the wetting agent are mixed with stirring.
p0011In practice, it has been shown that remain after the application of this preservative on the façade at most 20% of the amount of dirt adhere, forming a layer of dirt on facades or other surfaces during the service life.
p0012A further advantage is to be considered that in the following years again become necessary cleaning - must be carried out as a normal window cleaning, so much less effort required than previously seemed essential - of course depending on the degree of contamination.
p0013The applied preservative leads to, for excellent protection offered, on the other hand turn good removable protective layer which was not known in this form and effect.
