EP0054941A2

Oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement for combustion.

Abstract

An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement for combustion purpose'which is so arranged that, by supplying air to a selective air permeating membrane cell, flow rate and/or oxygen concentration of the oxygen enriched gas passed through the selective gas permeating membrane cell are controlled to predetermined conditions required for the combustion. The arrangement further includes devices for maintaining humidity in the oxygen enriched gas thus obtained at a constant level and for removing pulsation in it, thus being particularly suitable as an air supply source for various combustion equipment and apparatuses.

10 claims: 3 independent, 7 dependent

  1. 1
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement which comprises a housing, a selective gas permeating membrane cell provided in said housing, means for supplying air to said selective gas permeating membrane cell for obtaining oxygen enriched gas therethrough, and means for controlling flow rate and/or oxygen concentration of oxygen enriched gas obtained through said selective gas permeating membrane cell..
  2. 2
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim 1, further comprising means for controlling humidity of said oxygen enriched gas to a predetermined value, and means for removing pulsation in said oxygen enriched gas.
  3. 3
. An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim 2, wherein said means for controlling the humidity of the oxygen enriched gas to the predetermined value is of a humidity eliminating device including a structure formed by a material absorbing and penetrating water and another material having favorable heat conductivity which are caused to closely adhere to each other, said structure being arranged to contact, at its one edge, the oxygen enriched gas or condensate in said oxygen enriched gas, and at its other edge, atmospheric air or nitrogen enriched gas.
  4. 4
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim 2, wherein said means for removing the pulsation in the oxygen enriched gas is of a tank for storing therein the oxygen enriched gas.
  5. 5
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said selective gas permeating membrane cell further includes a main membrane cell and. an auxiliary membrane cell, said flow rate and/or oxygen concentration of the oxygen enriched gas to be obtained through said selective gas permeating membrane cell being arranged to be controlled by controlling flow rate of the oxygen enriched gas through said auxiliary membrane cell.
  6. 6
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim 5, wherein said auxiliary membrane cell further includes a plurality of membrane cells.
  7. 7
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim I, wherein said means for controlling the flow rate and/or oxygen concentration of the oxygen enriched gas includes one or more external atmospheric air intake portions and valves provided at subsequent stage of said selective gas permeating membrane cell.
  8. 8
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said means for controlling the flow rate and/or oxygen concentration of the oxygen enriched gas includes a feed back by-pass passage connecting an inlet and a discharge outlet of a pump for providing a pressure difference between a primary side and a secondary side of the selective gas permeating membrane cell, and a valve for adjusting flow rate of gas passing through said by-pass passage.
  9. 9
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said means for controlling the flow rate and/or oxygen concentration of the oxygen enriched gas includes a relief discharge port and a flow rate adjusting value provided at an end portion of the oxygen enriched gas discharge opening for ultimately controlling flow rate of the necessary oxygen enriched gas, and a pressure control releasing valve for releasing abnormal pressure.
  10. 10
An oxygen enriched gas supply arrangement as claimed in Claim I, wherein said means for controlling the flow rate and/or oxygen concentration of the oxygen enriched gas comprises an automatic control means based on a micro-computer.
