A microprocessor system comprising:-a first memory (2) containing a plurality of locations defined by a given set of addresses and containing program instructions and data, said program instructions being of a first type and of a second type, -input/output means (3) for receiving and transmitting information, -a central processing unit (1) connected to said first memory and said input/output means (3) by conductor means (4) to couple addresses, program instructions, data and information between the first memory (2), input/output means (3) and central processing means (1), said central processing unit (1) comprising: -an arithmetic logic unit (10) for performing arithmetic and logic operations on data, -a plurality of registers (K, D, MA, PC, WP, T, MQ) for containing address and data, -an instruction register (IR) for receiving program instructions for execution by the central processing unit (1), characterized by -control means (15;25G) responsive to the program instructions of said first type in said instruction register (IR) to produce a plurality of controls for defining the operation of the central processing unit (1), and responsive to program instructions of said second type to generate an auxiliary control signal, -an auxiliary storage unit (25) containing a plurality of locations defined by a second set of addresses which may contain program instructions of said first type, wherein the second set of addresses may overlap said given set of addresses, with means (24, 25E) initiated by the auxiliary control signal generated by the control means for transferring sequences of program instructions from such storage unit (25) to said instruction register in response to predetermined program instructions of said second type, such sequences including instructions of said first type.
