A process for producing a fluidized bed catalyst from a coarse catalyst.

Abstract

A process for producing a fluid catalyst having good activity from a coarse catalyst wherein said fluid catalyst is suitable for oxidation, ammoxidation or oxidative dehydrogenation reaction of hydrocarbons, involves initially crushing the coarse catalyst, a greater part of which is composed of particles having a large particle size, to produce finely-divided particles. The distribution of particle size of the crushed catalyst is then adjusted so that the amount of particles of a size of about 20 µ or less is about 30% by weight or less of the total weight of catalyst particles and the amount of particles having a weight average particle size is 90% or less based on the catalyst prior to crushing. Thereafter, the crushed catalyst is calcining at a temperature of about 500°C to about 10000C in a non-reducing atmosphere.

  1. 1
A process for producing a fluid catalyst from a coarse catalyst wherein said fluid catalyst is suitable for oxidation, ammoxidation or oxidative dehydrogenation reaction of hydrocarbons characterised by comprising the steps of:- (i) crushing the coarse catalyst, a greater part of which is composed of particles having a large particle size, to produce finely-divided particles, (ii) adjusting the distribution of particle size of the crushed catalyst so that the amount of particles of a size of about 20 µ or less is about 30% by weight or less of the total weight of catalyst particles and the amount of particles having a weight average particle size (particle size at median (50%) by weight of the total weight of catalyst particles in the particle size distribution) is 90% or less based on the catalyst prior to crushing, and (iii) thereafter calcining the crushed catalyst at a temperature of about 500°C to about 1000°C under a non-reducing atmosphere.
  2. 4
A process as. claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that the fluid catalyst comprises (A) antimony, (B) at least one element selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt, nickel, manganese, uranium, tin and copper, (C) at least one element selected from the group consisting of vanadium, molybdenum and tungsten and (D) tellurium, as essential components
  3. 5
A process as claimed in any preceding Claim, characterised in that the fluid catalyst to be crushed is a catalyst whose activity has been deteriorated.
  4. 6
any preceding 6. A process as claimed in/Claim characterised by including the-steps of impregnating said crushed catalyst with an aqueous solution containing an activator and drying the impregnated catalyst prior to calcining the catalyst.
  5. 11
A process as claimed in any preceding claim, characterised in that the non-reducing atmosphere is air, nitrogen, oxygen, helium or carbon dioxide.
  6. 12
A process as claimed in any preceding claim, characterised in that said large particle size in the coarse catalyst to be crushed is about 50 to 200 µ.
  7. 13
A process as claimed in any preceding claim, characterised in that the coarse catalyst to be crushed contains about 60% by weight or more of particles having a particle size of 50 to 200 p and about 20% by weight or less of particles having a particle size of 44 p or less.
  8. 14
A process as claimed in any preceding claim, characterised in that the crushed catalyst contains particles of from more than 20 p to 44 µ in an amount of about 25% by weight or more.
