to be used without a rack.
Such combined spectacles are often assembled by, for example, attaching and dismantling the prescription lens pair at the front of a spectacle frame holding the primary lenses and carried by a person. The attachment lens pair may be configured to be clamped to the front of the primary frame, or it may be held to the lens by means of joints so that it can be swung up and down. Clip-on lenses are uncomfortable in use and inconvenient to carry in a user's pocket. The pivotable glasses are generally bulky and unsightly.
The invention has for its object to eliminate the above-highlighted disadvantages of conventional auxiliary or auxiliary spectacles. It is an object of the invention to provide eyewear, which can be attached without difficulty, but securely to the primary Bri1lenglaspaar. A further object of the invention resides in a primary spectacle frame and a prescription spectacle part which do not require any clips, hinges or similar fastening means which have protruding parts and which cause inconvenience to the wearer when the accessory spectacle part is placed in or inserted or deployed from a bag of the carrier or when this part is attached to the primary Bri llengestell or removed from this.
The object and the objectives underlying the invention can be solved by a pair of glasses or can be achieved, which comprises a first part of the glasses with a frame front side and a front attachment part which can be placed over the front of the primary frame and a permanent magnet material which is attached to one or more locations near the outer edge of the attachment spectacle part in which soft magnetic material is fixedly mounted in one or more parts at one or more points on the front of the primary frame, so that when the attachment piece is placed over the frame front, the permanent magnet material and the soft magnetic material are brought into intimate contact with each other to form the attachment eyeglasses1 to hold on the primary spectacle frame by magnetic forces.
For use in the pair of spectacles according to the invention, a spectacle part is provided which has a frame front side and soft magnetic material firmly attached to this front side of the frame. Further, in one embodiment of the invention, a second piece of glasses having a primary frame facing surface is provided with a permanent magnet material attached to the back of the second piece of glasses or, alternatively, a pair of rimless glasses having a permanent magnet attached to the back thereof , used.
In one embodiment of the invention, the primary as well as the face piece have each a bridge with a top and bottom edge, wherein these edges of the webs are each substantially aligned with each other when the attachment-piece is properly placed on the primary part of the glasses. In a further embodiment according to the invention, in each case the outer circumference of the primary as well as the front part of the spectacle are substantially identical

The pair of spectacles according to the invention shown in Fig. 1 comprises a first or primary pair of spectacles 10 which typically has a pair of spectacle lenses 12 held in a frame 14. The frame 14 has a front side 15 with a pair of spaced apart frame edges 16, which hold the glasses 12 and are connected by a web 18. On the frame 16 two eyeglasses 20 are attached to fix the glasses on the wearer. Ar. the front, ie on the side facing away from the carrier, the frame 14 is mounted magnetic material 22 and 22 ', which is preferably a soft magnetic material. This magnetic material 22, 22 'may be a layer of soft material covering the front face 15, or may consist of a plurality of spaced-apart parts of the soft material, as shown, either embedded in the face 15 of the frame may be attached to the surface of the front side 15. Also, small particles of the soft magnetic material may be distributed in a matrix of plastic from which the frame front side is formed.
The frame 14 and the various parts including the front 15 are preferably made of a synthetic resin such as celluloid, cellulose acetate, epoxy resin, nylon or the like. Such a material allows easy embedding of the soft magnetic material in this or that? Attach the magnetic material to the frame front 15 or near the front surface to.
The magnetic material 22 used on the front side 15 is preferably a soft material of high permeability and low coercive force. A suitable soft magnetic material 1 for use in the subject invention is Nakano Permalloy PB, available from Nakano Permalloy Co. Ltd.,

Tokyo (Japan). This material (Nakano Permalloy PB) has a maximum permeability of 35,000-70,000 μιη and a coercive force of 0.15 Oe.
As shown in Fig. 1, the auxiliary eyeglass 24 consists of a pair of rimless glasses 26, for example, a einstükkigen glasses of acrylic resin od. Like. With two glasses 26, (iie are connected by a web 28. Parts or section te of a magnetic Materials 30, preferably a permanent magnet material, are fixedly attached to the upper back surface of each of the two glasses 26 at locations substantially corresponding to portions 22, 22 'on the frame front side 15. Further, portions of the same permanent magnet material 30 'are similarly secured to the lower rear surface of the glasses 26 at the portions 22' on the eyeglass frame 14 corresponding to the leads. The magnetic parts, for example, an area of 30 χ 5 mm2 for a wide frame edge front. The thickness of the parts can be in the range of approximately 1 mm - 1.5 mm.
The magnetic material used for the Voriatzbrille 24 is preferably a permanent magnet material, such as Piastiform fire magnet material (a flexible permanent magnet), which is available from 3M Company (USA) and has a maximum energy product above 1 χ 10 GOe, or it may be another, plastic or resin bonded, rigid ceramic material that has much higher energy products, such as a Ba-Fe, a ίΥ-Fe magnet from Tokin Corp. and an Sm-Co magnet from Teijin Engineering, Ltd., which are both Japanese companies.

Chen the design of the frame 14 corresponds, if it is set on the frame front 15 in the right way.
In some cases, the primary goggles 10 and the auxiliary goggles 24 may not exactly coincide with each other for an overlay. Therefore, the magnets 30 and 30 'on the back of the auxiliary eyeglass 24 can be attached with a suitable adhesive, eg Loctite cyanoacrylate from Loctite (Ireland) Ltd., Dublin (Ireland), and the rubber or plastic bonded magnets can be easily designed with simple tools to match the front 15 when superimposing the front bezel attachment tabs 24.
Although the outer periphery of the attachment eyeglass part 24 does not substantially match that of the front of the first eyeglasses 10, as shown in Fig. 1, the webs 18 and 28 desirably have the same height, with the upper and lower edges in register if the eyeglasses 24 in the correct way on the first Bri1ler 10 is set so that it serves as a positioning device which ensures the proper superimposition. For example, if the wearer grasps the subject eyeglasses 24 at their web 28 to place them over the first eyeglasses 10 that they already are wearing, then the wearer recognizes that both eyeglasses are correctly superimposed when his fingers feel the webs conform to each other.
Fig. 2 shows another embodiment of the invention, the primary goggles 10 being similar to those of Fig. 1, except that magnets 22 * are mounted on the outside of the socket edges 16. The attachment-eyeglass part 32 has a frame 33 with two frame edges 34,

holding the glasses 36 and connected by a web 38 and which has a backward, emanating from its upper edge projection or projection 40. When the auxiliary eyeglasses 32 are placed over the first eyeglasses 10, the bottom surface of the tab 40 abuts or rests against the top of the web 18 on that top and the interior portions of the socket edges 16 that enter the web 18. By this interaction, a positioning device is provided which prevents unwanted movement of the auxiliary eyeglasses 32 with respect to the primary eyeglasses 10 during use.
The lens attachment having protective or correction lenses is placed over the frame front 15 to protect, for example, the wearer against dangerous rays to the eyes or to provide further correction so that the wearer places objects at an approximate position. or distant position than is possible through the glasses 12 of the primary goggles 10.
It is preferable that the front surface of the front
te 15 of the frame 14 in its shape with the rear surface of the frame 33 of the attachment BriHe 32 matches and that the front surfaces of the magnets used 22, 22 'are flush with the respective socket front surface. Likewise, it is desirable that the rear surfaces of the magnets 42 and 42 'inserted into the outer and rear surfaces of the socket edges 34 be flush with the rear surfaces of the respective edges, and that the magnets 42, 42' be at their respective ends Edges are arranged so that they correspond to the locations of the magnets 22, 22 'in the socket 16. For example, the magnets 22, 22 'have a surface area of 140 mm2 and the magnets 42, 42 'have a surface area of about 75 mm2 exhibit. The thickness of each of the magnets may be approximately 1 mm.
- 13 -
The materials used for the sockets 16 and 34 * as well as the magnetic materials 22, 22 'and 42, 42' are the same as previously described.
FIGS. 3A-5B are top and front views, respectively, of the central portion of the primary eyelets 10 and the auxiliary eyeglass portions 32 showing various embodiments in accordance with the invention that suitably assist in attaching the eyewear over the primary eyeglasses 10.
In the case of FIGS. 3A and 3B, the primary goggle 10 has a forwardly bent or curved web 46, while the auxiliary gland 32 has a brow web 48 whose lower surface rests on the web 46 or abuts against its upper edge. The sides of the web 46 abut against the insides of the framing edges 16 of the auxiliary eyeglasses 32 when the two eyeglasses have been replaced.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 4A and 4B, the web 46 with a recess 49 on its front side approximately in the center thereofrprovided, while the web 38 of the auxiliary eyeglass 32 has a short, rear projection 50 which extends from the back of the web 38 and is opposite to the depression 49. When the auxiliary eyeglasses 32 are properly seated over the primary eyeglasses 10, the protuberance 50 engages the indentation 49, thereby facilitating the positioning of the eyeglasses above the primary eyeglasses 10.
In the embodiment of Figures 5A and 5B, the inner, upper corner portions 52 of the socket edges 34 are provided with short, rear lobes or protrusions 54 extending from the rear edges of the socket edges at the upper edges. The projections 54 lie on top of the inner corner parts of the frame edges 16 of the primary goggles 10
