In many cases, in exchange columns, mixtures must be separated which foam.
The foaming can become so strong that the foam in the return pipe is not destroyed, but accumulates beer. occupies the space between two floors and finally fills the entire space of the column. This will make the separation ineffective. It is not enough to increase the return pipe in cross section.
The foam rides in a sense on the outflowing liquid and can not be smashed by this in the fall into the return pipe. It has already arranged a baffle in front of the return pipe, which, however, allows the liquid to flow away foam-free, but more so has a stagnation of the foam and thus a decrease in the release effect.
The invention relates to a device which effectively destroys the foam, so that the separation effect is not reduced. According to the invention, at least one baffle wall, which is transverse to the flow direction, is installed in the return flow of each tray. The riding on the liquid foam is pressed against this baffle and crushed.
Figures I and 2 show in simple lines the device in a vertical section and in a plan view. The floors b may od of any genus, so bubble trays, tunnel floors. Like. Be. In the return pipe c of each floor is a transversely to the flow direction baffle wall a hewn, which is bent in the illustrated Ausfühiungsform at its upper part against the current flow direction. This curved upper part, the effect is particularly favored.
Figure 3 shows a return pipe c with a built-in baffle a, which is not bent at the top.
Figure 4 shows that three baffles a1, a2, a3 are connected in series.
Figure 5 shows a perforated baffle wall, which is so sieve-like and thereby further favors the destruction.
Figure 6 shows a baffle with covered longitudinal slots.
The embodiments according to Figures 4, 5 and 6 are mainly in question when it comes to the processing of large amounts of liquid. The effectiveness of the foam destruction by means of the baffles in the return pipes was tested as follows: The bottom liquid was added with a certain amount of a foam-forming substance and then the pressure loss was measured once without a baffle. It was assumed that the pressure loss must increase if the foam is not destroyed, but steadily grows. The measurement showed that when a baffle wall was installed, the pressure drop of 6 mm WAS was lower than the bean baffle.
