FIELD OF TECHNOLOGY
The present invention relates to subscriber information processing and in particular a method for building or dismantling of a service connection between a WLAN (wireless local area network) and a subscriber terminal.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
There the requirements for wireless access rate always rise more, has the WLAN, the higher speed wireless access can provide within a smaller range, fast experienced development. Today, many technologies for WLAN are available, with IEEE 802.11b with a wide of applied technical standard is the the frequency band of 2.4 GHz used; a further alternative, that uses the same frequency band is Bluetooth. All other new technologies, such as IEEE 802.11a and ETSI BRAN Hiperlan2, use the frequency band of 5 GHz.
Although There are many different types of radio access technologies, are most WLANs for used IP (internet protocol) to carry data packets. In a wireless IP network is the specific wireless access technology normally for the upper layer, that is, IP layer or above, transparent. All these IP networks have a similar basic architecture, implements the wireless access of a subscriber via the access point (AP) and an IP transmission network by the connection of the network control and -verbindungsvorrichtungen builds.
Together with the advent and development of WLAN, it is a focus become the current research, such as cooperation between the WLAN and various wireless communication networks such as such as the GSM, the CDMA system (Code Division Multiple Access), the WCDMA system (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access), the TD-SCDMA system (time division multiple access implement and synchronized code division multiple access) and the CDMA2000 system is. As part of the standardization organization for the partnership project 3rd generation (3GPP) is a simplified network architecture for the Cooperation between a WLAN system and a 3GPP system in <figref idrefs="S18">1</figref> shown. A WLAN user terminal can access wireless networks not only communicate with the Internet and Internet, but also with the packet domain network of the 3GPP network. It is obvious that the Wi-Fi wireless as a Access technology, which provides an IP-carrier, with many can be connected to other networks.
Basically, while the WLAN connects with other networks, the authentication, Authorization and accounting steps for the connection by a appropriate service control unit is controlled, for example by the AAA (authentication, authorization and accounting) server in a 3GPP system; and the user information is a user information storage unit managed, for example, by the HSS (home subscriber server) or the HLR (home location register) in the 3GPP system. Therefore, if the calls Authentication, authorization and accounting processes are performed, the corresponding service control unit, the subscriber profile the user information storage unit and stores it temporarily in itself. The service control unit releases the stored information only then release when the service is stopped, whereby the so-called Released on the step relates that the service control unit relevant data of the wireless subscriber deletes, no longer on the Service accesses. In a specific implementation, the Subscriber data immediately after the WLAN user offline is gone, erased are, or they can for one certain period of time are kept before they are deleted, so that, when the WLAN user once more logs, the service control unit the stored data may be used, without them from the information storage unit download. Once the subscriber information in the information storage unit changed is, the information storage unit notifies the appropriate Service control unit in order to update the data.
In practice there is no mechanism in the 3GPP standard, supports the Anschaltprozeß, by to access a WLAN user to the WLAN and a service connection build wishes and in which it is the wireless Anschaltprozeß. As a result, a WLAN user does not know if he / she successfully on the WLAN has accessed and whether he / she is capable of passing through the WLAN to use services provided. In addition, the AAA server not determine whether the WLAN based services for wireless subscribers Are available. Similarly, there is no mechanism in the 3GPP standard, of the shutdown process, by to a wireless subscriber terminates the use of the services and the WLAN is turned off, that is, the wireless power-off, supported. consequently the WLAN user can not confirm whether he successfully has been detached from the WLAN, and also the AAA server is also unable To determine whether the WLAN user is still able, the wireless-based services to use.
In addition, it to an unnecessary signaling transmission to prevent, required in the service control unit stored subscriber information with those in the user information storage unit to synchronize. For example, in existing specifications, when a WLAN user turned on or off in a WLAN is, the information on the WLAN user connection only in the service control unit, such as the AAA server to be updated without the information storage unit for the WLAN user, such as the HLR or the HSS, will be notified. The direct Result of this mechanism is that the information storage unit not the exact status information of the wireless subscriber knows what leads, that the in the information storage unit stored subscriber information unreliable is. It is also possible, that the Information storage unit after the separation of the WLAN station by a WLAN continues in the subsequent processing, the service control unit subscriber information to ask, such as the service connection status of the wireless subscriber and the subscriber data, what and unnecessary signaling load a senseless occupation of system resources results. If there is a large scale are of such signaling, can have a negative impact on the normal operation of the system arise.

There are two kinds of service connection status between the WLAN user terminal and the Network, namely 'to WiFi turned on' and 'off WLAN detached. By the change the service connection between the WLAN user and the service control unit Followers that takes place when the WLAN user to the WLAN access or separates from, the present invention provides a method which makes it possible that both the WLAN user terminal know as well as the WLAN if the WLAN user successfully WLAN has accessed and the wireless service is available or whether the WLAN user terminal successfully separated from the WLAN has been and the wireless service must be ended.
The Structure of the WLAN system, which the above-mentioned cooperation procedure implemented that proposed by the present invention is, in <figref idrefs="S18">2</figref> shown and includes: a WLAN user terminal <figref>201</figref>. a wireless access unit <figref>202</figref>, A service control unit <figref>203</figref> and a user information storage unit <figref>204</figref>, The wireless access unit<figref>202</figref> is for the Access and Leitweglenkungsverarbeitung the WLAN user terminal responsible, by the wireless subscriber terminals in allows to communicate using the IP protocol, and to connect to other IP networks and with them communicate. Generally speaking, the wireless access unit mainly comprises access points (AP) and access control means (AC), and may also Router for providing the network connectivity and relevant servers for the Network control include. The service control unit<figref>203</figref>. which acts as a subscriber control center in the wireless system controls access WLAN user for WLAN authentication means and expects every WLAN user in from the network. This service control unit, a registration information application unit be. In practical applications, the AAA server is one example for the Service control unit. The user information storage unit<figref>204</figref> becomes used to store the information of all wireless subscribers and can be implemented by the HSS or the HLR.
Of the Implementation process of the Method in the present invention is in <figref idrefs="S19">3</figref> shown and includes the following steps: presetting of flags in the WLAN user terminal or in the service control unit, the disconnected or the switched- represent status of service connection between the WLAN user terminal and the WLAN. The flags can be redefined specific flags or can reuse the flags are implemented already in WLAN user terminal or in were the service control unit available. <ul><li>a: Carry out WLAN Anschaltprozedur when a service connection between the WLAN user terminal and the WLAN is to be established, and setting the flags in the WLAN user terminal and in the service connection unit 'turned on WLAN' as, after the WLAN user successfully WLAN has turned.</li><li>b: canceling the service connection between the WLAN user terminal and the Network through the cooperation between the WLAN user terminal and the WLAN, when the WLAN user terminal disconnects from the WLAN, and simultaneously modifying the respective flags. It is also possible for the flags the service connection without the cooperation procedure to modify; For example, if the wireless connection is interrupted, leads, that it impossible is to establish the connection, the WLAN user terminal, the Flag the service connection directly 'from WLAN off 'set.</li></ul>
The reasons for the Degradation of the service connection between the WLAN user terminal and the Network without notifying the network can also exceptional Disconnection of the WLAN user terminal, a direct withdrawal the WLAN card from the computer or a system crash and so on be. The network sets the flag of the service connection between the WLAN user and the WLAN 'off of wireless' as after it has determined that it unable is to connect to the WLAN user terminal.
one Take the AAA server as an example of the service control unit. When a WLAN user terminal to the WLAN access, determines the AAA server, whether the information in it is the subscriber yet. If there is no such information are, invites the AAA server, the relevant subscriber data from the user information storage unit (E.g. HSS / HLR) and stores it down. After the WLAN user successfully has been authenticated, the AAA server records the service connection status between the current WLAN user and the WLAN 'turned on WLAN' as and simultaneously transmits a corresponding Instruction to the WLAN user, indicating that the WLAN user has already turned to the WLAN. The WLAN user terminal shows then by appropriate modification the service connection or the corresponding flag indicates that the WLAN based services available are.
The Wireless Anschaltprozedur the WLAN user terminal is in <figref idrefs="S20">4</figref> shown. In this embodiment, acts of HSS or the HLR as a user information storage unit. The includes procedure the following steps: Step <figref>401</figref>: Building a wireless connection between the WLAN user terminal and the WLAN, when the WLAN user needs to access the WLAN. After this the wireless connection has been successfully established, sends the WLAN user terminal via the Wireless access unit a WLAN access request to the AAA server. The request must clearly indicate that the Type of network for to the WLAN user requesting access, Wi-Fi, and has a permanent or temporary Identifier of the wireless subscriber contain.
step <figref>402</figref>: Upon receiving the request, the AAA server determines whether there is a permanent or tempo rare identifier in the access request message there, sent by the WLAN user terminal. Unless, must the Network trigger a request procedure to the WLAN user terminal to the valid identification of WLAN user terminal to get; otherwise leads the continued AAA server to determine whether the subscriber information the WLAN user terminal, the sends the request, is available to him. If the AAA server no such information exists, it comes with step <figref>403</figref> continue; otherwise it goes directly to step <figref>405</figref> continue.
step <figref>403</figref>-<figref>404</figref>: The AAA server sends a request to the / to the question (s) HLR / HSS for the Data of the WLAN user terminal; and the HLR or the HSS sends the data of the WLAN user terminal to the AAA server.
step <figref>405</figref>: The wireless triggers an authentication procedure of the current WLAN user terminal.
step <figref>406</figref>: After the authentication procedure successfully completed has been, the AAA server records the service connection between the WLAN user and the WLAN 'turned on WLAN' as on and then proceeds to step <figref>407</figref> about; if the authentication procedure is unsuccessful, rejects the AAA server the access request of the WLAN station and terminates the procedure.
step <figref>407</figref>-<figref>408</figref>: The AAA server sends to a subscriber data update request the HLR or the HSS and HLR or the HSS updates the subscriber status information the current WLAN user terminal; sends to the updating process the HLR or the HSS a data update response message to the AAA server. This step may be optional to frequent updates the Participant Information service connection status in the HLR or to avoid the HSS.
step <figref>409</figref>: The AAA server sends an access response message to the WLAN user back, indicating that the WLAN user has already turned to the WLAN and Wi-Fi available is. Upon receiving the message, the WLAN user terminal has the relevant modify flag which then indicates that the wireless service is available. For example, a flag of the WLAN service connection to be set and is switched at this time in the active state.
The WLAN shutdown of a WLAN user terminal is divided into two Groups depending from power-down mode: Explicit WLAN detach and Implicit WLAN detach. Explicit WLAN detach may also based on their release be divided into two subgroups: the explicit WLAN detach, which is triggered by the WLAN user terminal, and one that triggered by the WLAN is. In an explicit WLAN detach procedure, which is triggered by a wireless subscriber terminal, must the WLAN user terminal the reason for specify the shutdown in the Abschaltanforderungsnachricht that is sent to dan-Fi; as it is also in an explicit WLAN detach procedure, which is triggered by the WLAN, required that the network the reason for the shutdown in the Abschaltanforderungsnachricht indicates that is sent to the WLAN user. On the other hand, the implicit WLAN shutdown triggered by the network if the WLAN user for one long time had no contact with the WLAN. In this case, the network must the WLAN user terminal not informed after the shutdown procedure has been completed is.
below follows the detailed Description of the above mentioned Modes of shutdown procedures: <ul><li>1) If the WLAN user terminal is that triggers a procedure of turning off the WLAN, informed the WLAN user terminal the AAA server that the WLAN service should be terminated, and the service control unit, the called the AAA server, updates the corresponding service connection status 'Disconnected from WLAN' in. As in<figref idrefs="S20">5</figref> shown, includes the procedure the following steps: step <figref>501</figref>: When a wireless subscriber requesting the disconnection from the WLAN, sends the WLAN user terminal a shutdown request to the network. The request message contains the reason for the shutdown and the type of network from which switch off the WLAN user terminal wants, that is WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS. step <figref>502</figref>: Upon receipt of the deactivation draws the AAA server the service connection status of the WLAN user terminal as 'WLAN off' on. step <figref>503</figref>: The AAA server sends a reply message back to the current WLAN user terminal. This Step is optional; the AAA server may be based on the actual Situation decide whether the response message indicating that the WLAN user has already been detached from the WLAN to which WLAN user terminal resend or not. For example, it may be that it is only necessary in a wireless shutdown the corresponding flags in the AAA server and the HLR or the HSS set to, but not to facilitate operation and maintenance necessary is, the WLAN user terminal to inform. In addition, changes of AAA server the service connection status to the power off of Wi-Fi status, if it determines that it not from the WLAN user terminal Sent answer is. At this time, the AAA server has not Send notification to the WLAN user terminal, but simply sets the flag of the service connection status 'off of wireless' as.</li><li>2) It is possible to that this WLAN a WLAN detach procedure for a WLAN user from a network-related basic triggers. In this case, the shut-down by the AAA server or the HSS triggered or the HLR will. In this embodiment, the procedure is initiated by the AAA server and the AAA server updates the question Service connection status of the current WLAN user terminal 'off of WLAN' in. As in<figref idrefs="S21">6</figref> shown, includes the procedure the following steps: step <figref>601</figref>: If the WLAN requests the WLAN user terminal, from WLAN disable, the AAA server sends a detach request to the WLAN user terminal. The contains request message the type of Netzwe rks, of which it is to be switched off, ie WLAN, and the reason for the shutdown. step <figref>602</figref>: Simultaneously records the AAA server the service connection status of the WLAN user terminal 'off of wireless' as on. step <figref>603</figref>: The current WLAN user terminal sends a response message to the AAA server back, which indicates that the WLAN user has been detached from the WLAN and the WLAN-based service for the WLAN user has been completed. This step is optional. The WLAN user terminal can on the basis of the actual Situation decide whether the response message to the AAA server returns or not.</li><li>3) Implicit WLAN detach procedure: If the WLAN user for a long time had no contact with the WLAN, is the AAA server a WLAN shutdown triggered. The AAA server updates the wireless service connection status of the WLAN station in 'WLAN off 'what indicating that the wireless service not for the WLAN user available is. In this case, the AAA server send no notification to the WLAN user. As in<figref idrefs="S21">7</figref> shown, includes the procedure the steps of: step <figref>701</figref>-<figref>702</figref>: After the AAA server a certain number of attempts to contact the WLAN user terminal triggered has distinguished the AAA server when the still no reply WLAN user terminal are directly 'off of Wi' the service connection status of the WLAN user terminal as to. The number triggered by the AAA server Contact attempts before the shutdown, according to the actual Situation be configured. There are many reasons that the AAA server can cause contact attempts with the WLAN user terminal: It may be that the WLAN user for a long time had no contact with the WLAN and the timer in question is the AAA server then expires, which may result in the AAA server Contact the procedure with the WLAN user terminal initiates. Other WLAN user applications can also the AAA server call to make contact with the WLAN user terminal.</li></ul>
In those mentioned above implicit and explicit WLAN shutdown procedures leads Service control unit, in order to guarantee that the data in the service control unit and the user information storage unit match, the shutdown procedures in two ways: (1) recording the service connection status the wireless subscriber as' of WLAN 'off, sending a subscriber disconnection notification to the user information storage unit and Then set a corresponding flag for the current service connection status the wireless subscriber through the user information storage unit; (2) direct Delete the subscriber information without setting a flag for the service connection the wireless operator Sending a notification to the user information storage unit, indicating that the deleted subscriber information has been, and then recording by the user information storage unit, that the Subscriber information has been deleted from the service control unit is.
Of the process of Cooperation between the service control unit and the user information storage unit on the basis of the procedure (<figref>1</figref>) Is in <figref idrefs="S22">8th</figref> shown and includes the following steps: Steps <figref>801</figref>-<figref>802</figref>: While performing the shutdown is the AAA server the current service connection status the WLAN user terminal 'Off of wireless' as and sends a Abschaltbenachrichtigung to the HSS and HLR, the same indicating that the WLAN user has been detached from the WLAN;
step <figref>803</figref>-<figref>804</figref>: Upon receipt of the notification of the HSS or the HLR sets the current service connection status of the WLAN user terminal concerned 'off of wireless' as and then sends a response message to the AAA server returns, indicating that the service connection status the wireless Participate has been correctly updated.
Of the process of Cooperation between the service control unit and the user information storage unit on the basis of the procedure (<figref>2</figref>) Is in <figref idrefs="S22">9</figref> shown and includes the following steps: Step <figref>901</figref>-<figref>902</figref>: While performing the shutdown clears the AAA server which stored therein subscriber data of the WLAN user terminal and sends a subscriber information deletion notification simultaneously at the HSS and the HLR which indicates that the data the WLAN user terminal been deleted in the AAA server are;
step <figref>903</figref>-<figref>904</figref>: Upon receipt of the Benachrich account records the HSS or the HLR, that the Subscriber data of the relevant WLAN user terminal from the AAA server deleted have been, and then sends a response message to the AAA server back, indicating that the HSS or the HLR has set a flag indicating that the subscriber data deleted have been.
In the aforementioned WLAN controller board or shutdown, it is also necessary that the user information storage unit a flag presets that the service connection status between the WLAN user terminal and the WLAN represents.
The News support the aforementioned various cooperation procedures can redefined specific Messages are implemented, for example, by the Mobilanwendungsteil- (MAP) protocol, the Remote Authentication Dial-Teilnehmerdienst- (RADIUS) protocol or the DIAMETER protocol defined. The cooperation procedure can also add implemented by parameters to the existing messages. The subscriber information, which was mentioned in the above-mentioned solutions, the Application Information be.
