Servo driven door lock for vehicle

Abstract

The lock has its catch operated by a servo drive comprising an electric motor and a reduction gearing. The servo drive is activated by moving the door control. On servo failure the door control is merely moved further, bringing a mechanical catch into contact with the lock catch and moving same into the released position. The servo drive is activated by a switch operated by the initial movement of the door control. On servo failure, or on electric failure, the door catch is moved to its fuller extent for mechanical release of the door lock.
