Electric switch, preferably starter and ignition switch
The invention relates to an electrical switch for closing various circuits, in particular to a start and ignition switch for motor vehicles of the type with a base plate made of insulating material with attached fixed contacts and a rotatable control, the actuating surfaces of the movable contacts with respect to the fixed contacts Base plate carries. In the usual switches of this type control surfaces are present, which consist of metal plates of suitable shape, which are supported by a disc of insulating material, said disc is fixed and movable, depending on the particular embodiment. ·
With the rotation of the movable element, the intended connections are made: the contacts can be moved against each other either by a single push spring or a spring for each pair of contacts, depending on the embodiment. Ira j general, a coil spring is used.

In the position in which the connections are open under the action of the compression spring, some contacts are pressed against the insulating surface, which "carries the metallic control plates and touches them when the switch is actuated." :"" "'' '" _
However, this known embodiment is disadvantageous because "during the circuit rubbing between at least one contact and the insulating surface takes place with a
; resulting in wear of the insulating material itself as well as at the opening of the circuits an arc formed v / ird, which also causes damage to the insulating material. Because of the arrangement of the fixed contacts, which is not always the best for purposes of puncture, the pressure on the various contacts is not in; distributed uniformly, so that in this way and. After a certain time, an incorrect working of the switch is the result. In order to try to eliminate these disadvantages, various measures are normally taken, such as transition contacts, dead contacts, etc., which complicate the design of the switch without, however, completely eliminating the aforementioned disadvantages. The invention has the purpose of eliminating these drawbacks and yet maintaining a simple embodiment and relates to a switch in which the rotational movement of the key and consequently of the movable element causes an axial displacement of the movable contacts, a displacement which causes the closing or opening the circuits in the required order.
Thus, a frontal actuation of the contacts is achieved instead of the usual rubbing; Activity.
The system according to the invention therefore has, besides the fact that the usual radial cams may have before all events, i

the displacement of the corresponding contacts in a plane perpendicular to the axis according to which the rotation of the movable element takes place has one or more front cams (or "discs with surfaces provided with a variable profile in the direction of the axis of rotation of the rotating element) which are firmly connected to your rotatable part: the operation of these cams is such that the displacement relative to the contacts associated with each pair of contacts is in a direction perpendicular to their contact surfaces and substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the movable control element.
Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of an embodiment shown in the accompanying diagrammatic drawings.
Pig, 1 and 2 show two views of the blind, according to the
present invention in the open position of
Contacts, Fig. J5 and 4 show two views of the switch Indian
Position in which the contacts are closed, Pig. 5, an application of this switch to an anti-theft device is shown.
In the various drawings, corresponding parts are denoted by the same reference numerals.
With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the switch consists of a base plate of insulating material 1 with the terminals 2 which are connected to the fixed contacts 3. The movable part is ays of the small shaft of insulating material 4 suitably actuated by the ignition key not shown in the figure and the front cam "5" (via the small pins 6 or similar devices) the movable contacts 7 move from the corresponding leaf

These small leaf springs, in addition to the fact that they allow the stabilization of the various connections according to the considered actuation system, also provide the proper pressure on the contacts, without the need for additional helical compression springs. ·
5 and 4 show the operation upon rotation of the small shaft-4. It can be seen that the movement of the contacts during the switching takes place in accordance with the perpendicular to the contact surfaces and according to a parallel to the axis of rotation of the small wave, (after the arrow shown in Fig. 4). In addition, the contacts 9 can be provided, which are actuated by the radial cam /.
In Fig. 3, the switch is shown in an anti-theft device, which may be made of any type and catfish. The anti-theft device consists of the upper part of the assembled device of Fig. 5. In the lower part is the switch with the above explained. Share shown. No matter what the particular embodiment and application of the switch is, of course, no limitation is placed on the number and position of the front cams and the rotational angle of the movable part necessary to achieve the desired circuits. It is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and illustrated herein from which other forms and embodiments may be envisioned without departing from the scope of the invention.
