Optical coupling of baseplates
Abstract
Means for effecting a disconnectable optical connection between an optical guide carried by a circuit board C and an optical guide carried by or associated with a backplane B comprises in combination a two-part plug and socket mechanical connector and a two-part plug and socket optical fibre connector. Part 92 of the mechanical connector is movable to a limited extent with respect to the backplane or circuit board C on which it is carried and the other part 91 of the mechanical connector is fixedly secured to a circuit board or to the backplane B. Part 15 of the optical fibre connector is housed in and fixedly secured with respect to the fixed part 91 of the mechanical connector and the other part 16 of the optical fibre connector is slidably mounted in and with respect to the movable part 92 of the mechanical connector and is urged by a spring towards the mating end of the movable part of the mechanical connector. The optical connecting means can accommodate any play between a circuit board C and the rack in which the circuit board is disposed.

The invention relates to an optical connection of basic electronics,
In the complex, electronic apparatus comprising a plurality of boards having circuits arranged such that their legs lie in substantially parallel planes, it is a common practice to connect the circuits of such boards with means of multi-circumferential and co-operative el: toru, kt er é jeumist é nyna ts esca, time - referred to as mofttXzm d & amp; fa. or a base plate to which the edge connectors are fixed or disconnectable. The circuits are generally disposed removably with their main faces lying immutable on the sides of the recesses. . and it is customary to provide a clearance between the plate and the holder in which it is deposited in order to allow the plate to be readily inserted and removed. , The enable of such a clearance is acceptable if c .... has an edge connector supported by a circuit board to provide a connection between the electrical circuits on the circuit board and the electrical circuits on the baseplate and / other circuit boards or circuit boards, the degree of such a loop gains through the optical edge connector on the descs? ® circuits and an optical connector on the motherboard, to provide easy optical connection between the optical conductor carried on or connected to the circuit board and the optical conductors carried on or connected between the components on the motherboard and / or the optional conductor carried on or connected between components of the circuit board or other circuits. an edge connector supported by a circuit board to provide a connection between electrical circuits on a circuit board and electrical circuits on the motherboard and / or other circuits or circuits, the degree of such play being enhanced by means of the optical edge connector on descs? ® circuits and an optical connector on the motherboard, to provide easy optical connection between the optical conductor carried on or connected to the circuit board and the optical conductors carried on or connected between the components on the motherboard and / or the optional conductor carried on or connected between components of the circuit board or other circuits. an edge connector supported by a circuit board to provide a connection between electrical circuits on a circuit board and electrical circuits on the motherboard and / or other circuits or circuits, the degree of such play being enhanced by means of the optical edge connector on descs? ® circuits and an optical connector on the motherboard, to provide easy optical connection between the optical conductor carried on or connected to the circuit board and the optical conductors carried on or connected between the components on the motherboard and / or the optional conductor carried on or connected between components of the circuit board or other circuits. the degree of such play becomes more difficult by means of the optical edge connector on the descs? ® circuits and an optical connector on the motherboard, to provide easy optical connection between the optical conductor carried on or connected to the circuit board and the optical conductors carried on or connected between the components on the motherboard and / or the optional conductor carried on or connected between components of the circuit board or other circuits. the degree of such play becomes more difficult by means of the optical edge connector on the descs? ® circuits and an optical connector on the motherboard, to provide easy optical connection between the optical conductor carried on or connected to the circuit board and the optical conductors carried on or connected between the components on the motherboard and / or the optional conductor carried on or connected between components of the circuit board or other circuits.
