BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a method of folding bags for stacking them, in particular paper bags with a reinforced bottom and / or topsheet.
Bags of various types are usually transported or stored in stacks containing a number of bags that are tied with a band, etc. For these bags to have a suitable size, a plurality of flatly distributed bags will first be folded into composite bundles of suitable size which with transport belt etc.
The described process has the drawback that the entire bundle can be released to remove a single bag. Therefore, it has been advantageous to fold the disposable bags and then to fold them into composite pile of suitable size, which is easy to transport and store. This procedure is applicable to a variety of sachet types, but not to sachets with thick bottom and / or upper portions, for example, sachets with cross-reinforced bottoms at one or both ends of the sachet. Such a bag folded in a known manner has an uneven thickness which, when the bags are stacked, results in a deformation of the stacks which makes it impossible to easily stack and store the stacks.
The uniform and regular shape of the individual stacks and individual bags is particularly important when using machines which automatically remove the individual bags from a container in which a large number of stacked bags are stored.
These drawbacks of the known methods are overcome by the method of folding bags for stacking them, in particular paper bags with a reinforced lower and / or upper part, the essence of the invention being to fold the lower and / or upper first over its entire width. a portion of the bag and then a and a portion of the bag transversely folds over the fold, the total thickness of which approximately corresponds to the total thickness of the bag at the location of the reinforced lower part and / or the upper part.
It is preferred that the lower part and / or the upper part fold over the lower or upper surface upwards and the bag folds in the transverse direction in a Z-fold or in an alternately folded layer.
By folding the individual bags in this way, an approximately uniform thickness of the individual bags is achieved, allowing the bags to collapse into a regular stack containing a certain but pre-selected number of bags and can be tied with a band etc. and stores.
In addition, the uniform thickness of the folded bag and the regular shape of the bundle allow direct insertion of the bundle into the machine magazine which individually removes the bags.
Furthermore, the uniform and regular shape of the individual stacks has the advantage that the bags are better protected against undermining during transport.
Folding the bags so that the lower portion and / or the upper portion is folded by the lower or upper surface upwards provides the added advantage of1The quality of the glued joints can easily be checked in bags with glued bottoms. In bags with glued cross-bottoms and in the so-called valve bags, i.e., double-bottomed bags and a ventilation flap at one end, the quality of the glued joints is of decisive importance because insufficient gluing of the bag precludes its use.
The invention is further elucidated by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the bag with a flap; and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the bag of Fig. 1 after folding; to the folded bag of Fig. 2 from above.
The method according to the invention is described for folding a bag 1, which is provided with two sticky cross-bottoms 2, 2, one of these days 2, 2 being provided with a ventilation flap. The bottom 2, according to FIG. 1, first translates to the fact that the glued surfaces are reversed. The bag part 1 is then folded between days 2, J so that the bag χ is folded twice laterally into a fold 4, which has a Z-shaped longitudinal section. In this way, the bag χ has a uniform thickness when folded. .
The invention has been described in connection with a flap bag. That the method according to the invention can be used for all sachets having some reinforcements.
The folds may have any appearance and not only a single fold 4 may be used, but depending on the desired or required thickness in the region between the ends of the bag 1, multiple folds may be formed in both directions.
