Injector and method of assembly

Abstract

86340813 Abstract An injector may include a container having a wall with an interior surface and a seal assembly with an interior surface, the interior surfaces of the wall and the seal assembly defining a closed sterile reservoir filled with a drug product. The injector may also include a fluid delivery system comprising a clean, unsheathed, rigid container needle having a point disposed only partially through the seal assembly in a storage state, and disposed through the interior surface of the seal assembly into the sterile reservoir in a delivery state. Further, the injection may include an actuator that is adapted to move the container needle from the storage state to the delivery state. Date Recue/Date Received 2020-05-01

  1. 1
An injector comprising:a container including a wall having an interior surface and defining a bore;a seal assembly comprising a first stopper moveable along the bore, the interior surface of the container and an interior surface of the seal assembly defining a reservoir filled or fillable with a drug product;a fluid delivery system comprising a container needle having a point penetrating at least partially through the first stopper in a storage state, and disposed through the interior surface of the seal assembly into the reservoir in a delivery state;the first stopper being disposed at least partially in the bore of the container in the storage state;and an actuator that is adapted to move the container needle with respect to the wall of the container from the storage state to the delivery state.
  2. 4
The injector of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the wall of the container includes a closed end opposite the first stopper and an open end in which the first stopper is disposed.
  3. 5
The injector of any one of daims 1 to 4, wherein the first stopper includes an interior surface that defines the interior surface of the seal assembly.
  4. 6
The injector of any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the seal assembly comprises a flexible wall having an interior surface that defines the interior surface of the seal assembly, and wherein an enclosed clean space is defined between the flexible wall and the first stopper. -35Date Reçue/Date Received 2022-09-01 81778664
  5. 9
The injector of any one of claims 6 to 8, comprising a vent formed in foe first stopper and in fluid communication with foe clean space.
  6. 10
The injector of any one of claims 6 to 8, comprising a vent formed in the container and in fluid communication with the clean space.
  7. 12
The injector of any one of claims 8 to 11, wherein the wall of the container includes a closed end opposite the second stopper and an open end in which the first and second stoppers are disposed.
  8. 13
The injector of any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein the fluid deliveiy system comprises clean flexible tubing connected at a first end to the container needle and a second end to an injection needle received within a clean cover that closes off the injection needle.
  9. 14
The injector of any one of claims 1 to 13, wherein foe actuator is adapted to move foe container needle repeatedly between foe storage state and foe delivery state.
  10. 15
The injector of any one of claims 1 to 14, wherein the actuator is adapted to delay movement of foe container needle from foe storage state to the delivery state after an input is received. -36Date Reçue/Date Received 2022-09-01 81778664
  11. 16
The injector of any one of claims 1 to 15, further comprising a mechanical, electro-mechanical, or electrical input device coupled to the actuator.
  12. 18
A method of assembling an injector, the method comprising:providing a container having a reservoir filled or tillable with a drug product, the reservoir defined by an interior surface of a wall of the container and an interior surface of a seal assembly, wherein the seal assembly comprises a stopper movably disposed in a bore defined by the wall of the container;inserting a point of a container needle to penetrate at least partially through the stopper to define a storage state, the first stopper being disposed at least partially in the bore of the container in the storage state;and attaching the container needle to an actuator, the actuator adapted to move the container needle with respect to the wall of the container from the storage state to a delivery state wherein the container needle is disposed through the interior surface of the seal assembly into the reservoir.
