Connector assembly with pogo pins for use with medical sensors

Abstract

Various connector and sensor assemblies are described. In some embodiments, the connector and sensor assembly comprises a connector and a sensor assembly. The connector can have an opening that has a first surface and second surface that are opposite each other. The connector can have a plurality of retractable electrical connectors that extend from the first surface and a lock structure that is located on the second surface. The sensor assembly is comprised of a body portion and a proximal end. The proximal end has a top side and a bottom side. The top side includes a plurality of electrical contacts that is configured to interact with the plurality of retractable electrical connectors. The bottom side includes a key structure that is configured to interact with the lock structure in the connector.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to Claim 1 or 2 wherein the plurality retractable electrical connectors are in a staggered configuration.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to Claim 3 wherein die plurality of retractable electrical connectors are configured into a plurality of rows, wherein each row can include one or more of the plurality of retractable electrical connectors.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to any one of Claims 1-4 wherein the plurality of electrical contacts on the sensor assembly are in a staggered configuration.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to Claim 5 wherein ihe plurality of electrical contacts are configured into a plurality of rows, wherein each row can include one or more of the plurality of electrical contacts.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to any one of Claims 1-6 wherein the connector includes a fust color indicator and the sensor assembly includes a second color indicator, wherein the first color indicator and second color indicator are the same colors.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to any one of Claims 1-7 wherein the sensor assembly includes a visual indicator that indicates the type of sensor assembly to a user.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to any one of Claims 1-8 further including a first tapered surface on a proximal end of the connector and a second tapered surface on die proximal end of the sensor assembly, and wherein the fust tapered surface tapers into the opening of the connector and the second tapered surface tapers outward.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to Claim 9 wherein the tapered surface of the sensor assembly is configured to raise each of die plurality of retractable electrical connectors as the sensor assembly is inserted into the opening of the connector, wherein the second tapered surface of die sensor assembly is configured to reduce wear of the plurality of electrical contacts.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to any one of Claims 1-11 wherein die grounding line is located near the proximal end of the sensor assembly.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to any one of Claims 1-12 wherein the grounding line is located entirely on a surface of the sensor assembly.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to any one of Claims 1-12 wherein the grounding line is partially located above a surface of the sensor assembly and partially located below the surface of the sensor assembly.

    The connector and sensor assembly according to any one of Claims 1-12 wherein die grounding line is intermittendy connected across a surface of the sensor assembly.

    A male connector assembly which physically connects to and electrically communicates with corresponding female connector, the male connector comprising:a flat board portion;and a plurality of electrical contacts arranged on the flat board portion in a staggered configuration, wherein at least one of the electrical contacts is a ground contact die ground contact is arranged to physically contact and electrically communicate with a corresponding electrical contact of a female connector before any other contact of the electrical contacts comes into electrical communication with a corresponding electrical contact of die female connector, and -38Date Reçue/Date Received 2022-08-05 wherein the ground contact is electrically connected entirely on a surface of the flat board portion.

    The male connector according to Claim 16 wherein the electrical contacts are configured into a plurality of rows, wherein each row can include one or more of the electrical contacts.

    The male connector according to Claim 16 or 17 wherein the male connector includes a color indicator that corresponds with a color indicator of the female connector.

    The male connector according to any one of Claims 16-18 wherein die male connector includes a visual indicator that indicates the type of male connector to a user.

    The male connector according to any one of Claims 16-19 further including a tapered surface on a proximal end of the flat board portion of die male connector that is configured to engage with a tapered surface on a proximal end of the female connector.
